“great free b'fast; terrific staff; extraordinary view”
The Plaka Hotel is a great place to stay in Athens. The view of the Acropolis from the totally open-air, rooftop bar cannot be matched---especially at night. The room was excellent; the showers were (get this!) the BEST we'd ever seen. In fact, we took a PICTURE of them. The Plaka's complimentary breakfast was a yummy start to our day. The Plaka staff was just super. And the location provided an easy walk to shops and restaurants. In fact, we walked to the Acropolis from the hotel. We'd definitely recommend this to anyone---and we HAVE done so already to several people who are planning trips to Greece.
“emptynesters”
Athens was on strike and this hotel did everything it possibly could to be helpful. Very Very nice staff, beautiful room on a corner with two huge windows. GREAT bathroom with a really strong showerhead. Great location. Tons of restaurants and tavernas right around the corner. The best we have stayed in in Europe. Would absolutely go back. They responded to all emails promptly and could not have been nicer in a very stressful situation.
“Greece4me”
This hotel was located near everything we wanted to see. It has a super view of the acropolis from the roof. We lounged up there during sunset. just gorgeous! We had three people in the room. The room was small but we expected that. there was room to move it was very clean and a very helpful staff. And a very nice breakfast assortment. Were expecting coffee and danish, but that had meat , eggs and cereal as well. This being my first time out of the states it was a very enjoyable stay. And we felt safe walking around the neighborhood. The streets are very narrow. But the neighborhood was great. It was 100 degrees while we were there but their soft icecream was out of this world!
“Rave for Plaka Hotel”
Our recent stay at the Plaka Hotel in Athens could not have been better. The staff was very attentive, the breakfast room light and airy, the food great and the location superb. Our interior room, with a stylish new bathroom, was quiet and comfortable. Although it was too cold for drinks on the rooftop, it is a stunning space with amazing views.
“Very good [lace to stay”
We stayed only two days. The convenient location of Plaka enabled us to manage doing everything we planned. The hotel staff was extremely caring abd helpful. They all necessary information about weather, transportation, changes of schedules, ticket prices, and great places to eat out. They provided free coffee/tea thruout
“Convenient, clean, courteous staff, and reasonably priced.”
My wife loved the view of the Acropolis. Whenever we are in Athens, it will be our residence.
“Great location and good price”
Great location and good pricing. Many shops and restaurants surround this area and the Acropolis is a 10 minute walk.
“Great Location!”
This hotel was absolutely fantastic! I was there when Greece was in the middle of protests against the government so things were a little crazy, but the staff was great at letting all the guests know if/when certain things would be shut down, to include the public transportation and museums/sights. They'd help arrange taxis and private transfers to the airport for people who needed them. The breakfast was great... hot items as well as traditional European things (meat, cheese, bread). The Greek corner was fun... try the yogurt. The hotel location is perfect... the Plaka neighborhood is famous for its cafes and shopping opportunites, all of which are literally around the corner in either direction once you step outside the hotel's front door. The rooms were well kept... service was always prompt in the mornings. And don't forget to go up to the rooftop... besides the bar, there is also an absolutely amazing view of the Acropolis at night. It doesn't disappoint.
“Smart yet homely hotel in the heart of Plaka”
I had expected a very good hotel from previous reviews but Plaka Hotel exceeded my expectations . Breakfast was fantastic specially the Greek section and their PR team that visited every table answered all our questions and assisted in planning the day. They even found out that the morning ferry to Hydra had been cancelled and left a detailed route of the coastal tram in our room. Tea \ coffee\ hot drinks were available in the breakfast room from morning till evening along with a big jar of cookies. Location was fantastic , 1 minutes walk from Monastiraki metro station and Adrianou St which is the heart of Plaka and a stones throw from Ermou St , the swank shopping area. Very courteous and helpful staff. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
“George”
The hotel is as friendly as slim. Passages are narrow and elevator hardly can contain two adult with baggage. The second is hotel's location, from the one hand it's convenient to have most of museums and masterpices in 10 minutes walk, but from the other hand the nearby streets are narrow so the taxi is always delayed. In common the hotel in pretty usual, nothing special except roof terrace where you can cosily have your long drink observing ancient Acropolis. Stuff in hotel is very nice.
