“Good place to stay in Athens”

Would recommend anyone to stay there if you are visiting Athens. Very strategic location. Situated near to the Acropolis and food areas in Plaka. Reasonable price for decent, comfortable and clean room.

“Loved the location”

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is right in the heart of the old Plaka district making it easy walking to all of Athens sights. The room was a bit small, but the view of the Acropolis more than made up for it.

“Great Location. Excellent Breakfast.”

- Only a few blocks from the metro - Right next to Slavaki row (good food) - Excellent Location - easy access to everywhere in Athens you want to go by walking or metro. - View of Acropolis from rooftop - and from the street in front - Everything was in order - Perfectly Clean - Excellent Breakfast - Nice room - being from US I'm not used to two twin beds pushed together to make a double. Seemed a little 1950s Lucy and Desi to us, but this is the case with almost every hotel we looked into in the Plaka area. ** I would highly recommend

“Comfort with great location”

The Plaka Hotel offers comfort with a great location in the historic area of Athens. We had stayed at another nearby hotel on the previous visit, but since their rates had risen considerably we went looking for an alternative on Expedia. We were very pleased with this hotel which is surrounded by small restaurants. Starbucks is a mere block away as is a small grocery store; a bank with an ATM is located directly across the street. You are within walking distance to the Acropolis sights and the metro to the airport. As with almost all European hotels the rooms are quite snug, but we had a tiny balcony from which we could see a part of the Acropolis. My only complaint would be the bathroom which had small soaking tub/shower combination that required a high step up over the rim but it was tight as it was just inches from the toilet. We had requested a quiet location and were overlooking a side street; rooms on the main street are likely to be a bit noisy. There is an elevator and a guest computer available for use with 20 minutes free use to start. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a variety of items in a pleasant restaurant on the 1st floor. They also offered free coffee, tea, and cookies here most of the day. There was a sunny roof top terrace with bar drinks available in the evening; from here you could look out over the Acropolis and much of the city. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would stay here again when visiting Athens.

“Very Pleased”

Cordial staff, strong service ethic, roof top view of city and amenities terrific, breakfast excellent. Will definitely return! Fairly easy to access from airport via bus to square - then 3-4 block walk.

“Sanctuary at the base of the Acropolis”

We were on a ten-day trip in Greece which included visits with family. We had not originally planned for five days in Athens (we prefer the mountains), so we had to scurry to find a place. We got a great deal for the Hotel Plaka, which certainly lived up to its star-rating. The Plaka Hotel is an older structure, but is well-maintained with upgrades and appointments like the rooftop bar and seating area, which provide spectacular views of the Acropolis...most romantic, especially at night. Because the hotel is in the old-town Plaka, there are few cars (albeit there's a single lane street adjacent to the hotel)... so the cacophony of noises in Athens is quite diminished. We were able to relax, walk around, find nice restaurants or cheap eats within 10 minutes. There's a Metro stop a few hundred meters away, so easy access to the rest of the city... or we could jump in our car and do day trips... The hotel was quiet, the internet connection was a terrific deal (and there's an internet cafe a block away)...and the beds were comfy... there's a frig in each room, ..we had a balcony too... the hotel was a perfect place for us to rest up, relax, and enjoy the 2d half of our trip.

“Pleasantly surprised......”

I was pleasantly surprised with the Plaka Hotel. I decided to fly out one day earlier than originally planned from the States and the 5 Star hotel I had booked in Athens for the original dates was not available. I read the reviews online and decided to book the Plaka--especially since I would probably just sleep after my arrival. The hotel is in now my favorite part of Athens. The staff was very courteous and efficient. My room was a single---all bed--not much room-but it was SO clean. Hardwood floors were shining and the bathroom was spotless and modern. My room had an incredible view of the Acropolis. AND the roof top bar has a stupendously wonderful view of Athens and the Acropolis, especially at night. After a brief nap. I walked around the area and found a great outdoor restaurant right down the street-Tepina's, right next to the Ancient Agora. I felt safe walking by myself that night and would definitely suggest the Plaka Hotel for any woman travelling alone. The next morning, Doreena, the manager, suggested a walking route for me to see the area and I was thankful for her suggestion. ( I walked all the way to the Hilton in the Kolonaki area--exploring all along the way and took a cab back --- saw a TGI Friday's....) All in all, the Plaka Hotel is a wonderful place to be for a stay in Athens. Oh, Starbuck's is right down the street for those who need their Starbuck's "fix"---even though the local coffee beats out Starbuck's in my mind......

“A Real Gem with a view of the Acropolis”

Only 5 minutes walk from Monasteraki Metro Station and the Airport tube line, this friendly hotel is very well located. The staff speak excellent English and go out of their way to make you welcome At breakfast one of them circles the room giving advice on how best to organise your transport and other options for the day ahead. Our double room was well appointed and there is a lift, which we found to be a rarity in other moderately priced hotels. The breakfast had good choice and the room is available for free coffee/ tea during the day. The large roof terrace gives a magnificent view of the Parthenon and the sunset. We would not hesiate to visit again - highly recommended for all types of visitors.
