“Small and slick boutique hotel”
The Fresh Hotel was more stylish than I expected. Then again, Athens was far more stylish and hip than I expected as well. They have a cafe culture similar to Paris and a restaurant, bar, and club scene that doesn't get going until late.
But back to the hotel - very design forward with a young, professional, and efficient staff. Our room wasn't ready so we went to the rooftop bar, which is really beautiful and relaxing and again, very modern. The pool was well attended.
It straddles a seedy neighborhood but there is a large police precinct next door as well, so the area isn't dangerous, just seedy. It's a short walk to sunnier pastures.
In keeping with the newer hotel standards the room and bathroom, while ultra modern and clean, were quite small. Very NYC style and a tight fit for two, each with their own large suitcase and a carry-on. There was nowhere to store the bags, really.
Also, the pool quickly reaches capacity on the weekend. Athens is hot, and after a long day of outdoor sightseeing a little pool time seemed like a nice idea. Unfortunately everybody else had the same idea and there were bodies draped everywhere. It got a little tight and uncomfortable.
