Excellent hotel and THE friendliest staff

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: Great rooms and fabulous staff!
Location: We were in town briefly for the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards at Georgia Tech. The hotel is convenient to the campus.
The hotel was wonderful and very convenient to our meetings at Georgia Tech. Loved the room and the view from our window. The hotel staff is the friendliest nad most helpful I've ever encountered in all of my travels across the US and around the world. Fabulous! I would stay here on any trip to Atlanta!

good trip

Hotel is conveniently located near Ga Tech and is easily accessible by MARTA from the airport. It was a good value stay. Walkable eateries are located along Peachtree (high end) and along Fifth St at Spring. Good chinese at Sixth and Juniper and nearby chinese at Piedmont and Linden. Very comfortable stay, but lacking five star amenities.

Ok

Pros: Comfort level, cleanliness, amenities
Cons: Noise level, the gym
Location: Parks, hospital, restaurants, MARTA
Great view of downtown Atlanta from the 18th Floor (Room 1825). The staff aren't particularly friendly or helpful. The gym was probably midway through a renovation but of the 8 cardio machines, 2 were working and taken at the time I went in there, the free weights had either 5 pounds or 50 pounds, the strength training machine was also broken; overall a very disappointing gym. The location is decent and walk-able to many attractions. The room can be noisy as it faces the busy highway so when emergency vehicles pass through, it's loud. The bed was comfortable along with the amenities. The shower head was free of lime build-up, water pressure and drainage on both shower and sink was good (though I felt the bathroom faucet hot water was way too hot). There's also a Caribou Coffee right downstairs and a small convenience store.

Great Midtown Location

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Location: Midtown Atlanta. Walking distance from Fox theatre, numerous restaurants and attreCtions
Clearly the Crown Plaza has lost its supremacy from its 1980-90's heyday. The hotel was perfectly suited location wise for our visit to the Fox Theatre. The room was clean and comfortable but needed structural remodeling and updating. The tub was very slow to drain, causing an uncomfortable backup during showers and the in-room hair dryer had a short and failed to run. In all instances the staff was courteous, helpful and professional. A testimony to the historic reputation of the CP. Hopefully remodeling is planned to return the hotel to the status it long ago earned.

Nice place

In general it was good but on the other corners had vagrants begging and selling drugs. The hotel was nice but with a large wedding and a traveling karate team - elevator service and getting out the lobby was difficult. Staff were amazing none the less. Poliet quick friendly helpful and took time to explain the things that stressed services

My Birthday Weekend Girls Getaway

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: The view from my room - Room 2322! When I come back, that's the room for me!
Cons: It was evident that the hotel was in transition....more modernization needed.
Location: There's really nothing "close by" to do....however, we didn't expect to find anything in Midtown ATL as my iteniary was for Buckhead, LaThonia Springs
I had a wonderful experience. The complimentray breakfast was very good.

A mixed bag

The elevators didn't work properly. At the beginning of our stay, three of the four elevators could go to our floor. By the end of our stay, only one was working. The room was clean & the staff were decent but, not very helpful. I realize that the hotel management was in transition as it had just been purchased so maybe that accounts for the issues. But for the price of the rooms, I expected a bit better.
