A Gem Gone to Seed

Posted May 26, 2015
Cons: Apparently it is being taken over by Wyndham. Hopefully they can pull this place together.
This is an old lovely resort that has seen better days. A few years ago, while it was under Marriott's wing, it was almost revitalized and updated. But the process stopped. Now it has a feel of general confusion and lack of desire to maintain the facility. The first room we were given was so dirty we had to change rooms. The staff was very nice but no one really seemed to make much effort. The squashed bug on the hallway wall in a prominent spot was there throughout the stay, the cleaning solution wiped on(but not off) the brass elevator was there for 2 days, the lampshades in both rooms we had were shredding and the cocktail list of seasonal drinks was clearly from Christmas (cinnamon and spice) while our stay was over Memorial Day weekend.

decent place to stay

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: friendly staff.
Cons: ridiculous charges.
Location: Forsythe nature preserve is awesome!
very standard. nice hotel. was charged 20% gratuity for a take-out order from "The Grille Room". this soured my experience. where does gratuity go on a take-out order? When i questioned this charge i was told that it was applied because the order was so large: two salads, two soups, one pasta. beware these types of charges at this hotel.

Great hotel for kids

Posted May 26, 2015
We went Memorial Day weekend. Golf was great.rooms were clean, Beds were comfortable . Super fluffy pillows. Pools were nice. Lots of kids. 19th hole pub across the street was great. Sunryser cafe down the road was good inexpensive breakfast. Negatives - curtains did not close all the way . Housekeeping did not speak English .

Great for golfers and business meetings, too.

Posted May 23, 2015
Pros: It's very elegant-looking and it was quiet at night. It's good to have food right on the premises and two great golf courses.
Cons: I would make sure all staff members are as friendly as the others and provide information about the area on check-in or in the rooms.
Location: A little out of the way, but a short drive to Atlantic City. Also, the Historic Shops at Smithville were very quaint and a good way to spend time.
We were there for 3 days, 2 nights. Our room was not one of the newly renovated ones, so the furniture was old and tired-looking, but the bed was comfortable and clean. The down comforter was a nice touch. The bathroom was adequate and towels were clean and plentiful. The old-type heavy shower curtain takes away from the feel of thorough cleanliness, though. The Grille Room had good food but was very crowded one night and they had one waitress, although she was excellent. I think they called for help from other staff. They apparently don't open the main dining room for dinner, just breakfast, which is tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. I'd like it if I was told some of the nearby things to do and how the golf works as soon as I check in. I found a very nice luggage handler who filled me in more than the front desk. Also, you do have a bit of a walk from your car if you "self-park" but the valet parking seemed overpriced. I would think guests would get free valet service.

Relaxing weekend before my wedding ...

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Very historic, pleasant staff, centrally located, and comfiest bed ever!
Cons: Other entrances and exits clearly marked, other than just the main entrance.
My Matron of Honor and I decided to take a last minute trip away before I say "I do" next weekend (5/23/15). We arrived on Saturday, May 16th in the evening and was greeted by beautiful buildings and grounds, with plenty of parking spots or if you choose a valet service. At the front desk all employees had smiles on their faces and were very pleasant. Once up to the room, which was very clean and spacious, we settled in and decided we were going to go to dinner. We chose an Italian restaurant about 6 miles form the hotel and was not disappointed - even though we were tempted to just order in room service because the smells coming from the kitchen were phenomenal! We then decided to turn in because we had appointments booked at the Red Door Spa in the morning, which was located on the grounds as well. All in all we decided on a wonderful place last minute and was not disappointed! We plan on making this a yearly trip going forward and can't wait to stay in the summer so we can take advantage of the beautiful pool! If you are unsure about this property, I say just do it! Thank you! -Lauren

Thank you for your valuable feedback and noticing the important details of our property. We will continue to enhance our products and services to ensure a memorable experience for our guests. The Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club is the area’s only full-service golf resort set upon 670 acres of Woodland Park just across Reed’s Bay from Atlantic City. It’s a historic place with an atmosphere of history and tradition more usually found in the Old World such as St. Andrews, Gleneagles and Carnoustie. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Needs updating

Hotel is pricey, needs an update/facelift badly BUT the brunch was worth the price of admission!

We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for your kind words in regards to our Sunday brunch. As you probably noticed our lobby as well as some our function space and public areas were renovated less than a year ago. Our plan is to complete additional phases of renovation each year in the off season months. We’d love to see you in the Fall.

Big, sprawling and missing a couple of marks

Posted Apr 5, 2015
It really is a cool place and I would recommend it to friends on that alone. It reminded me of the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. The rooms are somewhat spartan and lack amenities that I expect to find in a hotel at this rating. A glaring example for me was the very non-generous supply of coffee makings (a single kurig style cartridge of regular coffee... enough for one cup) as well as a lack of the sorts of things like working ice machines (the one on our floor was empty and dry). The room was also noisy and we did not have a comfortable night as we were being constantly woken up by loud patrons in the hallway and slamming room doors. The hotel thought is beautiful and you don't get to see many like this anymore. Our stay though was strictly fair and not worthy of the price.

We appreciate your feedback. As you’ve noticed, our lobby was renovated recently. This was the first phase of our renovation schedule. Our plan is to complete additional phases of renovation each year in the winter months. The renovations should address all of the issues you’ve pointed out. We’d love to see you return in the Fall.

Adequate

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: Food that was available was quite good the staff was very friendly
Cons: More disclosure of fees and cost up front,
Very limited menu due to Passover event that was scheduled. Dog fees were undisclosed until arrival, way to many taxes and fees. Hotel was very dated and was in some disrepair. For the price I expected more. Beds were comfortable staff was very accommodating.
