“Good Choice”

We stayed in this hotel while attending our son's graduation from Basic Training at Ft. Benning. The hotel was conviently located near the base. It was clean and the personnel were very pleasant and helpful.

“Very pleased with this hotel.”

Very clean and well maintained hotel. The staff was very nice and friendly. The only issue was that the room was designated as a non-smoking room but there was a faint smoke smell.

“Comfortable stay for 5 days!”

We stayed here during military family week-end to visit my son during basic/AIT training. We stayed for 5 days and were reasonable comfortable. I struggled with finding a hotel that was reasonable in price and comfort/quality so I spent a lot of time reading reviews. I read good and bad and here is my impression. When you arrive you will see clean grounds, nice pool and a small but cozy lobby. The room was clean and satisfactory. I had read a few scary things about bugs in a few reviews and i never saw one bug. I traditionally bring my own linen and blankets when I travel and did so on this trip as well. It was not necessary for me to use it because the linen and blankets appeared clean and maintained well. The air-conditioner did cause a mild musty smell but was not untolerable. Our room faced the pool which was nice and the pool was great! Simple and clean and just the right temperature for the hot days we were there. There were nice tables to sit and visit with other military families. My son told his buddies where we had reservations at the Days Inn in Phenix City and their families booked at the same hotel in effort to meet each others families. Everyone verbalized appreciation for the referral because they enjoyed their experience as well. I almost stayed at a hotel that was more expensive and I am glad I chose the Days Inn. We spent that extra money on fun activities, shopping and eating out of course! Your military son or daughter will be ready to eat out!

“That Smell....”

Everything about our stay was what would be expected from a stay at any Days Inn. Everything was just fine....not too good, not too bad. Except. Except for the smell coming from the heat/AC unit. Some sort of deodorizer(?) that spewed into the room every time the unit cycled on. It gave the impression of sticking you head in a bag full of those scented things people hang from the mirrors of their cars. Truly awful. We recently stayed at a Jameson Inn and experienced the same thing. Both of these were non-smoking rooms and I don't think they were trying to cover-up a recent smoker's visit. Maybe someone likes that particular smell. The car scent business seems to be thriving.

“Days Inn Columbus, Phenix City”

Although this hotel is not as close to Fort Benning as I thought, it is a fairly easy drive. I felt safer in this location than I would have at any of the hotels closer to Fort Benning. The price was really affordable and helped a lot since I had two rooms for several nights. The front counter staff was pleasant , available, and so helpful with driving directions regarding airport, Fort Benning, and restaurants. There was a t-shirt and sox left in one of my rooms and the floor was not completely clean in the other. That made me concerned about how clean the really important things were. This property is two stories and there is no elevator. That being said, I was pleased with all else enough that I would book there again.
