“Typical business traveller hotel”

Hotel is in the middle of downtown Auckland, so the location is loud. The room itself was decent, but better can be easily found for the same price. Definitely a hotel for the NZ business traveller with a bulk-negotiated rate paid by an employer, not the tourist or pleasure traveller. Try the Sebel instead.

Area recommendations

Stick close to the water, or along Nelson St. if you are looking for something cheap but decent. Nelson's walking distance from everything you might need or want to see.

Traveler's tip

Auckland (and NZ in general) has crazy, unpredictable weather. Bring a good raincoat and buy a cheap umbrella while there. Get used to planning daytrips in the spur-of-the-moment....there's no way to guess just what the weather will be like. And definitely bring sunscreen regardless of rain- the UV level is insane - will burn you in 30 minutes rain or shine.

“Will certainly come back”

The room was large and fully equipped. Lots of convenience stores around. The service was great. Very good hotel I recommend to people staying a few days in Auckland.

“Great location!”

Overall a nice hotel with good service. Parking is valet only so a bit expensive and rooms were on the smaller side but the location was great (walking distance to shops, skytower, etc). Would recommend this hotel to tourists visiting Auckland!!

“Auckland's Best Service”

We stayed in a one-bedroom executive suite, which had all of the amenities of home, including a dishwasher, microwave, and washer and dryer. We did quite a bit of driving and site-seeing, and the concierge was always happy to help us find our way to wherever we needed to go. The hotel is surrounded by excellent restaurants (Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Mexican, and many others are all within 2-3 blocks), and the Sky Tower is only about 2 blocks away. There are several bus stops near the hotel, making it easy to see pretty much whatever you would like in Auckland. Zest, the on-site restaurant, is delicious and a must for breakfast. The only drawback - a very cold swimming pool! The CityLife Auckland is definitely 5 star service for a 3 star price.

Traveler's tip

For early arriving flights, make sure to e-mail the hotel to let them know you'll be arriving before the normal check-in time.

“Good stay”

The hotel is located right in the heart of city with walking distance to all the locations, the rooms are big and plenty of room to keep your luggage. The staff was very helpful and upto stantard. Will certainly stay there in the future.

“In the heart of the city”

My husband and I stayed at City Life Hotel for 1 night before flying out of Auckland Airport. This hotel is located in the busy streets of downtown and is within walking distance to the Harbour, Sky Jump, Viaduct, shopping, restaurants & more. It reminded me of staying in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The bell service & concierge went out of their way to give us directions, instructions & any additional info. We felt like VIPs. We had a room on the 22nd floor and heard no noises as other reviews stated. It was a clean & trendy 1 bedroom and we loved it. We had a rental car and the hotel was a little hard to find. The valet parking & entrance are actually behind the hotel down a ramp (vs street address given) so I would call ahead & get better directions. Overall, we LOVED our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Traveler's tip

Great restaurants located in the Viaduct. We ate at Soul, per the Frommer's Guide, and chowed down on the whitebait fish fritters as appetizer and lots of other great food. It's more upscale dining so be prepared for the bill. Food & service were excellent!!

really it is comfortable hotel, secured hotel. services 24 hours. excellent location 2 minutes to queen street the most famous street in new zealand. I advise all people travelling there to use the city life hotel. prices is acceptable.
