Great location, very close to Queen Street

Budget hotel, clean and in a great location. Small room with small bathroom. Great if you don't want to spend much on a hotel room - good basic clean accommodation. No frills.

Conveniently situated and close to venues

Pros: The d├ęcor is beautiful art deco style with lead-light dome and front desk. Very impressive.
Cons: The mattress was too soft.
Location: Civic Theatre, lots of eating places, Sky tower, centre of the city
I was greeted with enthusiastic and friendly stall. The staff asked where I was going for the evening and when I mentioned the place, we had a nice chat about the show I was going to. The staff were genuinely interested. Also, I could not get the television to work and a staff member came and sorted it out straight away (it was turned off at the wall!!) All over good experience.

Disappointing for the price

Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: -Location
Cons: -Not worth the price -Room tiny -Noisy
This room was not what I had expected. I booked the room for 2 people for 2 nights. I have stayed at Econolodges in several different countries and have always been satisfied. I understand that since this one is downtown Auckland the facilities are bound to be a bit smaller but the room was TINY. There is room for the double bed and barely enough room to walk around on either side of the bed. The washroom is also tiny; there is no vanity which makes things difficult if there is more than one person or you are staying for more than one night. The shower is also ridiculously small. The walls of the hotel are also incredibly thin - we could hear every noise from the next room and the hall, not to mention from outside. We were on the top floor and could still hear every single noise from the street. I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a good night's rest, if you are staying for more than one night or for more than one person. This is one of the cheapest options for accommodation downtown but for the same price you can definitely find something more comfortable.

Econolodge CBD Auckland

Posted May 7, 2014
This hotel is within walking distance to most of the sights of Downtown Auckland. It was quiet and clean. The rooms are a bit small so you cant move around much if you have two suitcases. And the bathroom could use more shelves and towel racks. But the close location to the downtown area makes it worth it. One other minus is no free wifi. With today's connectivity, this should be included with the room rate.

Close to CBD

Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff. Housekeeper was lovely.
Cons: The plumbing is pretty old and the shower in our room was a little awkward to use.
Location: Plenty to do near by - Town Hall, picture theartres, shopping - good bus service also.
We have stayed at the Econo Lodge before and were happy to again. The facilities are nothing special but the location in central Auckland and the very helpful staff make it worth while. The rooms are not large but if you just want somewhere to sleep and have a shower they are fine.
