“disappointing”
too expensive for such bad hotel rooms!!
“great experience”
The price I paid for the hotel was fair, looking back I think the quality is worth it. The staff was very nice & knowledgeable about the area, on two occasions they guided me so that I can save money on transportation and on dinner. The hotel itself was awesome, I had a nice view of SkyTower, this hotel is very centrally located, just a few feet from the entrance you can get to the main transportation center, Britomart, and you can also catch a ferry close by in Queens Wharf. The room was very clean and comfortable. I had just two issues, one is that the internet was not complementary, but I found that to be the case in most hotels in NZ, and the rate was ridiculous, I recommend finding an actual internet cafe, you will pay less or even most McDonalds have free WiFi. The TV was also giving me some problems, I really didn't care much about the tv but someone else might, I think it was a simple malfunction, probably would have been fixed by resetting it by calling front desk, so it was not a big problem. The hotel has a restaurant/cafe at the top, I only went there once because I had a discount coupon, but I thought the prices for breakfast were too high, all the other days I ate out for a lot cheaper. I did not try to place for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this place, when I return back to Auckland this will be my first hotel I look for reserving.
“Old, noisy and inefficient ventilation, bad service”
What a poor experience. According to the reception : "in this hotel, it is normal that the heating system takes 30 minutes to start heating" ! That ventilation / heating system is quite noisy (even if turned off !) As an expedia guest you'll be placed in one of their old fashioned style room. quite poor with an extra used carpet. Already had some renovation. Definitely needs more ! Beds : too hard Lighting : very poor Staff : didn't see them smiling Another of those Accor group hotels, that might have been good 20 ~ 30 years ago, not anymore. Prices : really too high for such a place. Note : all comments say the place is great. That's right. But many other hotels are also placed in the center (which by the way is rather small, so it doesn't really matters).
“great location”
Hotel is in the heart of Auckland, walking distance to the Domain with harbor view. It's surprisingly quiet. Be sure to book parking in advance if you want it; we had to park several blocks away (though that was cheaper than parking in the hotel garage). Reception staff were not particularly helpful or friendly, but otherwise a good experience.
“Good location, decent hotel, nice staff”
A good choice. The rooms are OK- good size, but a tiny bit of wear. Nothing major. The air conditioning was a bit noisy and not very effective, but was also OK. They have a decent gym with great views to the harbour. I would definately stay there again
“A pleasant stay”
Good location... reasonable rates....
“Is the the plumbing always broken?”
Toilet didn't work during the 3 days we were there. High extra cost for parking made it not so inexpensive.
“Best location and very reasonable!”
The hotel's location was truly perfect for a stay in Auckland, being walking distance from the cruise terminal and also adjacent to a major bus terminal. The hotel's lobby is apparently undergoing renovation, but I wasn't affected in my room at all. I really enjoyed the bay window (which opened) overlooking town. An excellent value.
“Typical European Hotel”
Small, but clean rooms. Basic Amenities.
“Great Location for being a Tourist”
For my first time in Auckland, this hotel turned out to be ideal. It was close to the harbor, which made it easy to walk over there. Visiting the Maritime museum was extremely enjoyable. The bus stop for the Link bus is right outside the hotel, which goes around Auckland stopping at various sites like the Auckland Museuem. You're a block away from Queen Street with all the bussle and shopping. I had a low floor room so some of the street traffic sounds and the clinking of the hotel's flags were a bit loud. My main gripe would be the cost of the Internet connection. But that might be a gripe for all hotels in NZ and Australia. Just not used to paying so much for Internet connections and bandwidth limitations. There is a coffee shop across the street which has free one hour wireless connections if you buy something, so that's one alternative.
