One of the best hotels in the heart of the city

Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: Location and within the casino premises
Cons: Would be great if there was a guest indoor swimming pool and sauna.
Location: Lots of shopping and variety of restaurants.
My stay was brief but was very comfortable and relaxing,

Excellent hotel, close to downtown Auckland

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Has everything you require for a night away in Auckland and very comfortable.
Cons: Nothing at this stage.
Location: Downtown Auckland only steps away, amazing restaurants and cafes.
We were in Auckland for the Fast 5 Netball at Vector Arena and we booked skycity for its locality and comfort. It was an excellent hotel and would stay again.

Modern, Buzzing, "Fancy"

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Cons: Lacks a swimming pool.
Fantastic room service, (and the valet parking) blows the kids minds. They also loved the artwork: "Fancy!" they thought. And that sums up the entire stay, from the great room and great service, to the great views. The Casino was of no interest to us per se, but it adds mightily to the buzz of the place. Oh, as does the Tower, of course! Great location: although there are plenty of restaurants in the hotel (breakfast pizza at Rebo was great) there are loads of eateries around about, too. Auckland CBD is still pretty compact, so everything was within walking distance.

Hotel fine but not the extra.s

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: God location, pleasant staff, OK facilities.
Cons: Knowledge at concierge desk. Speed of response to housekeeping items.
Location: Auckland's at your doorstep so take the Explorer bus and go over to the nearby islands.
The hotel and facilities were fine. However, don't expect help from the concierge desk and if you ask for something from housekeeping like extra towels then expect that to take literally hours.

Super handy Location

Posted Oct 11, 2014
Pros: Location, atmosphere and cleaniness.
Location: Casino, convention centre, viaduct, restaurants, theatre, everything.
We were there for a function at the convention center, super handy and easy, just walked across the airbridge from one hotel to the center, fantastic.

Nice Hotel - Convenient to Central City

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: The staff, from the cleaners to the valet parking guys say hello as you walk by.
Cons: Provide all staff who have walkie talkies with an earphone and a more sensitive microphone (so they don't have to share their conversations).
The stay was pleasant and problem free. There was only one staff member (on the concierge desk) who didn't appear to want to be there, and the person who checked us in was a little indifferent when asked about parking options. All the other staff were very pleasant and helpful. It took a while to understand the parking charges when checking in, and in the end we went for the valet parking service which turned out to be very convenient. The valet parking staff are an asset to the hotel. One thing you have to get used to though is the staff members who walk around the hotel corridors with their walkie talkies turned up. As a customer I don't want to listen to walkie-talkie conversations. They could be more discreet, and perhaps use earphones rather than the walkie talky's speakerphone.

Ho hum.

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Central to CBD, handy for the Sky Tower(!).
Cons: On-site food was expensive. Room service expensive. In room breakfast menu, very expensive. Without eggs, $X dollars, with two eggs, $X + $10!!
Location: Sky Tower of course, Queen Street, CBD, quay side.
Nothing special. The on-site (Sky City) eating places were expensive for what they provided, going by the menus. There are plenty of cheaper places nearby. The Fortuna buffet (the on-site one we tried) was noisy and crowded. We ate out for breakfast which is unusual for us. The room was OK, but pretty typical. The mini-bar was expensive, but no more than any other mini-bar.
