Great hotel!Posted Dec 1, 2014
Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Rooms were great. We had a Luxury Marina View room which was lovely and moved to a city view King room for the last night, which was also a nice room and very large. We got a good deal as we prepaid for the Marina view prior to coming, and had to pay more for a room two levels lower for the last night. So hotel is expensive, but if you can get a decent price (which is still fairly expensive) it's worth it. We didn't eat at the restaurant as the choices were not up our alley. We did have food in the bar from their menu, and it was good. Location is amazing. Right at the Viaduct where all the restaurants/bars are and only a short walk to the main downtown shopping street (Queen Street). All in all we were very happy with this hotel.

Nice hotel with attentive staffPosted Oct 26, 2014
Lovely hotel located on the harbour. A little out of the main hub but close enough to stroll to Queens Street and Princes Wharf with ease. Excellent location for The Wynyard Quarter restaurants and for business travellers with Vodafone, HP, KPMG and Microsoft buildings right across the street. The staff were very friendly and attentive, service always came with a smile. Lava restaurant very good and they take the Advantage Plus Card giving 50% discount on food.

Good hotel great for viaduct restaurants and barsPosted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: The location is great, and the overall hotel style with a variety of places to sit and relax makes it a very comfortable experience
Cons: Range of TV channels very limited. Room furniture quite tatty. A fixed cost airport shuttle would be valuable - taxis here make Sydney look cheap.
Location: Close to ferries, viaduct marina and many restaurants. Queen St shops are a 15 minute walk away, but quality and range for shopping is very poor.
Enjoyed 5 nights as a short break in Auckland in a hotel perfectly positioned for access to the ferries, the viaduct and many excellent bars and restaurants. The hotel would suit business or holiday travellers, it is mostly beautifully maintained, and our room was big and very spacious. Somewhat quirky that the French hotel chain insists on staff greeting guests in French - not really why people travel to New Zealand. Limited room towels, but otherwise a superb bathroom, a great coffee machine and range of teas. Breakfast charge of NZ$39 per head is quite ridiculous, but travellers to NZ will soon realise that NZ is now a very expensive place to travel to - be prepared for a NZ$100 taxi fare from the airport if you travel other than off peak times, and NZ$15 for what would cost SIN$4 in Singapore. Soul Bar and Bistro is a must place to go for superb food.

Great PositonPosted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Clean, modern, comfortable bed and very spacious.
Cons: More hanging space and drawers for clothing. Change the colour scheme from dark and 'mouse' browns to greens, blues or lemons.
Location: Fantastic location. Out the front door and around to the Viaduct marina and split bridge and plenty of places to dine.We walked to Sky Tower and ferry
Great position on Viaduct Harbour. The room was very spacious, but a bit like living in a fish bowl as you could be seen from other rooms and see into other rooms. Hanging space for clothes was very limited (about 4 hangers), and no space at all for storing sweaters or other clothing(had to lay it out on the couch!) I also dislike the mousy colours of the decor (I would much prefer greens, blues or lemons) Wifi wasn't provided with the room cost. The ensuite was huge with bidet and his and hers basins as well as a huge bath tub (which we didn't use) and plenty of towels were provided. The shower was of good size with both take down spray arm and shower rose alternatives. The bed was king size and comfortable. There were two balconies but no furniture to sit outside if you wished. Staff were friendly when you came across them, which wasn't very often.

Location: Great location. Plenty of restaurants just a minutes stroll along the viaduct waterfront. Well lit at night and felt totally safe. The location is har
It was my partners birthday and our stay was welcomed by birthday greetings from the restaurant staff and others. A special plate of chocolate and flowers made it a magnificent stay for the 2 nights. Very good staff, wonderful views over the viaduct. Definitely will stay again

OutstandingPosted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: Everything! The quiet, the décor, the staff, the extra touches, the location and the well-appointed room as well as the relaxed public spaces.
Location: This location is fabulous because it is walking distance to many restaurants and bars, Britomart and the Harbour. Quiet yet convenient.
My husband and found our stay at the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour to be extremely relaxing, effortless and luxurious. We liked the quiet and calm atmosphere, the extra touches throughout the public spaces and the well-designed room. The bed was extremely comfortable and we felt spoilt staying there and didn't want to leave. Staff were friendly and attentive yet not imposing at all and we couldn't have asked for anything better. My friend (who was not staying at the hotel) and I had a massage each which we both totally enjoyed; the spa was lovely and quiet, like a cocoon, and the massage therapists and staff caring and professional. I just wish we had stayed longer because we didn't get a chance to try out the restaurant. Oh well, next time!

Excellent hotel, wonderful view from our roomPosted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: The staff knew our names and were interested in what we were doing each day and gave us suggestions and helped with restaurant bookings.
Cons: We had trouble getting breakfast in your room door hangers - rang through to the concierge but they never arrived. Seems to be a lack of communication
Location: On the Viaduct by the marina. Shops nearby and lots of restaurants within an easy taxi ride.
Friendly yet professional staff. We plan to go back to Auckland just to stay at the Sofitel again. Lots of special little touches really made our stay memorable.

Location is misleadingPosted Oct 6, 2014
Not a bad place to stay, but the hotel needs some work. Couldn't get the room warm enough to be comfortable, the bathroom had a musty smell & some of the drawers wouldn't open properly. Restaurant was very good. Housekeeping didn't clean the bathroom one day & we had to call to get it done. There are no good views from the hotel as it's wedged between buildings. We did complain about some things to the manager & he was responsive & did what he could.

Outstanding Auckland hotelPosted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: see above
Location: On the Viaduct in Auckland. Wide range of restaurants near by.
Had a wonderful time. The atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed. The staff were friendly and could not have been more helpful. The central location was great. We also enjoyed the gym, pool and spa facilities. We had a superb dinner at the restaurant. My husband would have preferred a greeting Kia ora rather Bonjour. The room was slightly small with only one chair. For 2 people we would have like 2 chairs. We will ask for a larger room next time as we will definitely go back.
