“Unique experience and best night's sleep in years”

Our stay at the Chateau-Hotel La Vignette Haute was good. It is beautifully situated on top of a hill overlooking classic French countryside. The hotel itself is well decorated and does its job of feeling like a real castle. The service is hit or miss. We had one front desk lady that was very helpful and another that was not. The restaurant is very expensive. For the evening, there weren't a lot of restaurant options in the nearby towns, but we made do. We were willing to sacrifice our choice of restaurants for the opportunity to stay in such a quiet and secluded locale. We only had breakfast there, and it was good. It is hard to screw up yogurt, juice and breads though. The room was fantastic. I had my best night's sleep in years in that king sized bed. We had room #8 and were able to close the blinds and sleep in long after we should have. The place is all by itself on the hill and it is extremely quiet. I felt like we got a fantastic deal through Expedia as well, so the fact that we were experiencing the hotel at a very discounted price probably colored my perception. Overall, it was a good stay and a good and unique experience compared to all of the other, downtown-type hotels we stayed at on our vacation.

“Pleasantly surprised”

The hotel setting is excellent, the views from the hotel verandas are idillic. Ideal for a nice and quite vacation. Rooms are very big and very comfortable. My only comment is that the rooms are a little dark because of the medieval chateaux-like decor. However, the decor adds to the charm of the hotel. We had dinner the night we stayed at the hotel and it was excellent. One of our best meals while traveling in France.
