Look elsewhere

Cons: lack of easy access to/from interstates and expressways
Location: Hotel entrance drive very difficult and dangerous due to location to freeway exits
Location makes exit/entry very difficult. It's the first hotel I've ever encountered that didn't allow alcoholic beverages in your room. It appeared rundown and shabby (I'm not certain it was, just didn't look fresh and inviting.

Best Bang for the Buck

Pros: The rooms!!!!!!!!!! Ask for room 200. It is cavernous with a great bathroom
Cons: Front desk staff could be a little more friendly. The continental breakfast could be a more original and extensive.
Location: The hotel is only 3 miles from downtown. You are close to everything,
Very, very good value for the money. Continental breakfast could be better, but a small thing really.

Interesting place... A little confused

Pros: Location, amenities, quaint
Cons: Strange lobby odor.
Location: Downtown is so close, avoid the trafficky I-35 and take Oltorf to Congress.
Needed an affordable hotel close down town Austin. It is a nice little hotel, boutique-ish you might say. Picked this spot based upon other reviews and the repeated mentioning of large bath tubs (yes, as promised), free wifi, free parking, free breakfast -- yes yes yes, and "Zen" feel (eh not quite zen, i think the decorator missed feng shui day at design school). Interesting decor. My escort and I were intrigued at the mish mash of Asain/Danish Modern items which sometimes seemed as though they may have been garage sale finds. Eclectic lighting, decent free breakfast. Clean, but yes there is a chlorine bleachy smell every time you walk in the lobby. The bathtub set up, while it seemed sexy in theory, actually turned out to be a tiny bit awkward, when one of us need to hop in for a quick wash up, you always had an audience. Not sure if there was a working fartfan in the bathroom, but ours didn't have one which made us get creative and run the blow dryer to mask those sounds that arise whilst trying to eliminate solids. Overall it was affordable, nice enough, central to where I needed to be and safe. I would stay again.

Wonderful surprise!!

Location: The location was very handy to a convention center meeting. Maybe 5-10 minute commute.
I travel to Austin often, and just happened to try the Casulo Hotel on this trip. Wow! I thought it was terrific. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The room was unique - in a great way. Bathroom and shower were roomy - I love having two shower heads. Bed was comfortable and the chaise sofa was perfect for reading after a long day on my feet. I will definitely stay there again!

Contemporary comfort

Pros: Ease in getting to the Austin track.
Location: Location is not the best for visiting downtown Austin. Also the location is somewhat not really walker-friendly.
Upscale look and feel. Good value. Location is good for race fans attending the Austin track. The location is not good if you want to hang out in downtown Austin since the traffic is a mess. Better to stay in downtown Austin if your objective is to visit the city.

Nicely Updated, but Disappointing
Posted Jan 4, 2013
This hotel has done a great job of marketing itself and had recently done some very nice up dating. Our disappointment came when we realized it's not conveniently located for anything in Austin (15 drive at least to anything). The other issue we had was a huge amount of noise that the staff refused to do anything about. A crazy party going until 4 am across the hall made it impossible to sleep and the front desk person seemed to think it was funny. I would not stay here again.

Wouldn't go Back!!

Pros: Centrally located
Cons: Staff & Securty
Location: Great location.
The hotel smells musty when you walk in. The atmosphere is nice. I had about 10 friends meet me in the lobby before heading out and the manager told me if I do that again, we would have to meet in my room or be charged for each person. Whatever that means!! I do not feel that is appropriate. There was know-one in the lobby to disturb, the bar wasn't open. The back entrance to the hotel is not locked so anyone can enter and not be seen by hotel staff at front desk. Safety issues!!
