Great location, in need of renovation...

Posted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: The great location in proximity to Austin nightlife.
Cons: Major renovation of plumbing and HVAC systems. Replacement of most interior trim, windows, etc. More in-room lighting.
Location: Next to great coffee & bakery. Two blocks from my favorite cheeseburger.
The hotel's location on 6th Street provides easy walking access to many of the restaurants and nightlife that make Austin interesting. A great coffee shop/bar shares a courtyard with the hotel; it was my first stop every morning during my stay. The hotel's condition needs some attention: the area under the sink in the bathroom had been painted over as many times as it could stand, and multiple screw holes along the window trim seem to indicate many different curtain systems over the years. The room is lit only by lamps, and not a central ceiling fixture, and it could use two more. The air conditioner blew cool air, but it didn't seem to remove any of the humidity from the room, and never reached the sixty degrees Farenheight advertised by the thermostat. None of these things are terrible, but for the price and the brand, they shouldn't even be noticeable. On Sunday morning, (when the hotel was most populated...) there wasn't enought hot water pressure for the shower to operate. I found this unacceptable. To their staff's credit, the hotel agreed to refund one night of my stay.

Pros: Free wi-fi in the room for HHonors members and ability to print in the Business Center.
Cons: Transportation, parking, entrance, lighting, eating options.
Location: Approximately 2 blocks from the Austin Convention Center. On the corner of 5th and 6th Streets (music venues).
I expected more from the Hilton chain. There was not a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, there was not a shuttle to anyplace. No lunch restaurant. The only entrance was through the parking garage. When I arrived at my room, there was a large pile of dirty linens in the hallway blocking entrance to the room. There was not an entry way light, no light to view things in the closet. The coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator were in a cabinet that didn't have a light. Because of lack of entry light, it was very difficult to see to use these items. I will not stay here again.

Fantastic Location

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: Location, cleanliness, professional staff, complementary internet
Location: A river runs next to the hotel, with a scenic area along which to walk. Both 6th street restaurants/bars and Rainey District are in waking distance.
I stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to the conference I was attending. Location was great - close to 6th street and Rainey District.

Good Location

Got a smoking room to begin with when we had asked for nonsmoking. After room change there was loud construction type noise in our room that the hotel only offered to give us ear plugs for.

Good Service

Posted Jan 28, 2015
Pros: Breakfast setup was good, had options from omelets and waffles to fruits and yogurt.
Location: Very close to the 6th street nightlife, easily walkable.
A good option for downtown, though it is a bit too far from the N. Congress area to call it "walkable" unless you are okay with an extended hike.

Great location!

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: A little noisy.
Location: Lots of different attractions - close to 6th Street which is the heart of the downtown area. Great restaurants, bars, and very convenient to UT campu
It was close and convenient to the areas that we wanted to see. Proximity to I35 was also a plus, as we were able to conveniently make a side trip to San Antonio without any trouble.
