“Homestead- Austin”

“funfunfun fester goer”

booked in advance on expedia due to location in relation to auditorium shores, where funfunfun fest was held this year (2011) - was PERFECT! surprised by the room with full kitchen and large room with king sized bed, newer flat screen tv and window that could be opened for fresh air. came in from chicago, check in and check out were quick and hotel service was satisfactory. location was key in this stay. room was kept well, not gleaming but clean. nothing really to complain about!!

fun fun fun fest with 4 stages held at the beginning of November each year... best festival in the U.S. for variety of music, comedy and other attractions.

“Great location for people who are active...never had to use car.”

Great location for walking to Town Lake or South Congress. Great places for food and coffee within walking distance. Sandy's burgers, Upper Decks and Joe's Coffee Bar on South Congress. Walk up to 4th-6th St at night and take a cab ride back at night for less than 10$...If your lazy stay on the North side of Congress Bridge and spend an extra $100+

“Too expensive for a dirty room”

The hotel was poorly maintained and at the second night a wall lamp in the second floor ignited and generated a fire. What kind of hotel is so poorly maintained that a wall lamp ignites? I paid too much for a room that still had the smell of cigarette (it was a non smoking room), the towels were dirty, the countertop was sticky and the couch was in such condition that I decided not to sit on it. I´m never coming back to that hotel chain. The only good thing was the people in the hotel, they were all very nice.

“Marginal”

Recognizing that this is a cheap place, I was there five days and they never changed my towels or sheets or straightened up the room at all. I was there for a conference, and the night before my presentation a fire broke out somewhere in the hotel and a siren like an air raid went off. These two experienced definitely soured me on the homestead.

“A Nice Bargain”

This hotel is less expensive than most others within walking distance of the convention center and downtown. If you bring in your own groceries and do your own cooking, you can save even more.

Area recommendations

The closer to Town Lake, the better. This area is great for recreation, and there are the bridge bats to see at dusk.

“Not impressed, location is only good thing”

I thought, by the location and few pics they have, it be a good hotel. The hallways smelled like butt and had a stinch of wet dog thruout the whole 2nd floor. Rugs seem to be from the 70's and they have the nerve to charge for internet service...thought we were in 2011 and not 1998. Beds were hard, AC is loud. Overall I give it a 2 out of 5 stars. Location is the only good thing about it.

“Nice to stay a night or two”

The hotel is located near city center. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to 6th street. The people at the front desk were extremly helpful and ensured a pleasant stay.

“Good Motel for the money.”

The room itself needs a bit of remodeling, particularly the bathroom, which is in need of ventilation, a new bathtub, and tiling surrounding it, and . otherwise, very acceptable. the hallways were being remodeled or at least work of the ventilation system seems to have been in progress.
