Disappointed.

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Good location.
Cons: See above comment.
Location: Close to Wimberly and Driftwood wineries.
We stayed in a Red Roof Inn in another city and the place was clean, and well kept. This one in San Marcos looked pretty run down and old. The receptionist was not friendly and we had to carry our bags up the stairs as there is no elevator. The room was clean and looked like it had newer furniture than the hallway but the carpet in the whole place looked old and not very clean. The breakfast was only open till 9:00 am on a weekend which seems too early given it was a weekend. Also, it didn't look like there were any healthy choices for breakfast. Not too impressed with the place and I wouldn't recommend to a friend.

CLOSE TO WEDDING VENUE

Posted Sep 15, 2014
it was a great hotel. very clean rooms, nice and accommodating staff. part of our group made it to the hotel almost 3 hours before check in and they let them check in to go to the room so they could start getting ready. rooms might be a little outdated decor wise but still very clean

Pictures don't exactly match

Posted Sep 2, 2014
The pictures of the rooms for this location don't exactly match the room. It was not quite clean either. The floor was quite dirty and the ice machine was truly disgusting. But considering it was obviously a very old location badly in need of renovating, it was surprisingly well cared for. I will give them a huge pat on the back for friendly staff. Especially the housekeeping staff. We traveled with two kids under the age of two which means extra mess, extra towels, etc. But they helped with a smile, stopped by every day to see if we needed more of anything, and let us tell them when we needed the room cleaned. No pressure to be out of the room by a certain time so they could clean. The front desk staff was nice but not overly friendly. All in all, the professionalism and kindness of the staff made the stay so very nice.

Older hotel, updated, good location, comfortable.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
This older hotel is in a good location. Room had been updated. Comfotable bed. Nice staff. Not well cleaned upon arrival, but taken care of quickly. Breakfast not great. Ended up eating out every morning. Not enough parking available.

Ok for the night we spent.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Location was good, down the road from Riverside Drive and the tubing.
Location: Tubing, glass bottom boat, Wonder Cave.
We were there only 1 night. We didn't have breakfast, or swim in the pool. Didn't really deal with staff other than check in and that went fine.

Dated and in need of repair

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Location: The campus of Texas State is beautiful. San Marcos is a great town. Outlet Mall is nearby and you are in the middle between Austin and San Antonio.
Room is a room, but this room was right on the highway. Most hotels in San Marcos are right on I-35 so you do not get much relief from the noise but this seemed louder than others I have stayed at along the Highway. Cons: Room was missing a few things like the standard door latch that it the extra security for the door. Ours only had one part, the part on the door was missing. Cleanliness: found dental floss hanging down from the light fixture in the bathroom and a dirty tissue in the corner on the floor under the sink. Pool: was closed. Pro: Was nice to have the refrigerator and microwave in the room. TV was nice and the cable worked.

River Tubing and a Sleep-over

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: good beds
Cons: Exterior
Location: Tubing, shopping and eating
The hotel was much better than I had anticipated. The outside is very understated but the inside was clean and pleasantly nice than expected.

Great location near the university.

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Proximity to the university and easy access on interstate 35.
Cons: The cleanliness needs much improvement. Maybe add a little fruit at breakfast.
Location: Herbert's tacos are delicious and there is also a 5 Guys within walking distance.
The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful in giving tips on where to eat close by and such. The cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The sheets were clean and the beds comfortable. The blankets were threadbare.

The hotel was nice and clean...so was the room. Continental breakfast was extremely limited.
