Pros: almost everything - room was comfortable - breakfast was really good with lots of choices
Cons: some traffic noise reduction would be nice esp. in rooms closest to highway
Location: easy access to highway
property and room were well maintained - staff was cheerful, helpful, and polite -breakfast and Thursday dinner were good - only minor issue was traffic noise with our room close to the highway

Greetings, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Expedia.com. We appreciate you choosing the Residence Inn Austin South for your visit and for your comments regarding the service you received. I will make sure the team is recognized for your comments, as we always strive to provide exceptional service and it is great to hear your affirmation. As you mentioned in your review, our daily deluxe complimentary breakfast is a great way to start your morning and our M-Th evening social hour is a terrific way to unwind after a long day. I am glad you were able to take advantage of these amenities as they are a big hit with our guests. We are located close to IH-35 which does provide quick and easy access to downtown, the San Marcos outlet mall, or many of Austin’s great dining and nightlife options. Once again, thank you for your review and we appreciate you choosing the Residence Inn Austin South. We look forward to having you back on future trips to Austin. Sincerely, Chris

Excellent hotel, very friendly staff

Posted Dec 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
We found this hotel to be really nice. The studio room/suite was very well maintained, and had a fully functioning kitchen. The staff were very friendly too; in particular I want to give a shout out to Aggie at the front desk for sharing a lot of tips including ones about restaurants near by, and Olga in the kitchen for setting up breakfast for the guests; Ernest at the front desk was friendly as well. Only criticism I have is that this hotel could really make an attempt to be greener - and exclusively use reusable (ceramic/steel) plates and silverware instead of a mix ... and go from a Green-Bronze to a higher rating. Also, you might want to pick a room in the 2nd/3rd floor if you're a light sleeper and can be bothered by the AC/heatpump unit outside the room. During non-peak season, the prices could be lower too for those stay more than one night :-)

Greetings, Thank you for taking a moment to share your positive feedback on Hotels.com regarding your recent stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Austin South! We appreciate your recognition of our incredibly knowledgeable and kind staff. Aggie, Olga, and Ernesto make me proud every day with the great guest service they provide. They are truly an asset to our team. Thank you as well for your input on how we can attempt to become a greener hotel. We are as interested as you in protecting the beautiful destinations we all love to visit. Currently we do use a blend of reusable and non-reusable silverware/plates. We do this in an effort to accommodate guests “on the go” as well as our guests who would like to sit down and enjoy a little more time for breakfast. With that being said I will look into more bio-degradable options of silverware and plates for our guests who would like to take their meal and go. Thank you again for your comments and positive review. We hope to see you next time you are in Austin! Sincerely, Chris

Austin Hit n Run

Posted Nov 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
We met some friends in Austin for a fun weekend. we looked at some homes for weekend rent but decided on a 2 bedroom suite here. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the free breakfast was surprisingly good with a large selection. The staff was really over-the top fantastic, very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Plenty of free parking. on the minuses: not a large selection of restaurants nearby so plan accordingly.

Greetings, Thank you for such wonderful feedback on your recent stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Austin South. I am happy to hear that you your stay was a good one and that you received such personal, accommodating service during your stay-this is something we take great pride in. Our complimentary daily breakfast is always a guest favorite and I’m delighted to hear you enjoyed it so much! While we do not have many food options within walking distance of our hotel, we do have quite a few restaurants just a short drive away. Feel free to ask the front desk for some local recommendations. We also provide a complimentary downtown shuttle from 6pm-11pm. This shuttle drops our guests off at the corner of 4th and Trinity and once dropped off you are only a few blocks away from many of Austin’s preferred dining and nightlife options. I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Austin again soon. Sincerely, Chris

my family of 6 stayed overnight, 2bedroom suite with kitchenette. service was friendly, responsive, professional and caring. rooms were a little dated, but well maintained and very clean. breakfast was excellent, fresh scrambled eggs, red potatoes, and sausage with biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt, and waffle bar.

Four Star prices for Two Star Hotel

Posted May 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
A week prior to a house flood forced us (family of four) to take whatever we could for a couple of days at short notice, we had enjoyed a long weekend vacation at a local resort (great golf course, swimming pools, multiple restaurants, tennis, horse and pony riding, etc., etc., etc.). While there is nothing actually wrong with the Residence Inn we stayed at, I can't help but feeling its owners are in a hurry to recoup the money they spent on its recent remodel. This place cost two thirds as much per night as the resort when a third would have been more appropriate. To say it was overpriced would be the definition of the word "understatement." Side Note: Have you ever seen those incredible miniature sets they make for movies like Star Wars (that look so life-size on the screen)? Well, Residence Inn has found a photographer that is just as talented at doing the exact opposite. The rooms were Europe cramped and if Michael Phelps tried to do one of his standard dives into the pool, I doubt even his feet would get wet (no joke ... the thing can't have been more than 20 feet long). About the only thing that was about the size it should have been was the paddle tennis court which, ironically, is about a third the size of a full size court.

Greetings! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on Trip Advisor, we appreciate you taking the time. As a team we are sorry to hear that your house did experience flooding, that is never pleasant for anyone to experience. As a brand initiative we do strive to offer a ‘Home away from home experience’ and we hope you experienced that to some degree. In regards to our pricing, we are priced competitively to the Austin Market which does fluctuate with demand, Numerous special events, State conferences etc. We always have the guests interests at heart however we always want to maintain our competitive team spirit in the Austin market. We have several different room types to suit both business travelers and families. We do recommend a larger Suite for families. In regards to our swimming pool, I am sorry to hear about the confusion regarding our pool photos. Our pool is the standard you would find at most Residence Inn’s, it is aimed at small families to enjoy a paddle or dip to cool off from the Austin weather. We do not recommend diving in our pool at any time as clearly stated with the ‘No diving’ sign by the pool and our depth of 4ft is clearly shown on our website photo. We wish you all the best and hope to see you again whenever you are next in Austin! Regards,

Our stay at the Residence Inn South Austin

Posted May 28, 2013
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and our two bedroom suite was spacious. The free beer and buffet on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings were a welcome surprise. The location (next to the IH35), and the age of the interior were the only negatives for us.
