“Better than expected for the price”

Basic, clean enough, close enough to downtown for the price. Nice continental breakfast was included with my stay. I would only say that this hotel is within walking distance during daylight hours, but depending on your comfort level, you could walk at night but I would recommend taking a cab.

“Really- It's not that bad”

A friend of mine and myself stayed here for a total of 5 nights. It's really not a bad place at all. In other words, I have paid a lot more and got a lot less. The room was clean and comfortable. Sure there are some things that you notice on an aging motel- but you can deal with it just fine. The air conditioning worked, so did the hot water- The key card at the door was a little tricky, but not impossible. Room service was prompt and quick, and the staff was friendly. Very close to the police department, Capitol, and a short walk day or night to 6th street activities. Cab ride back is about 5 bucks, if you have a few too many, or are uncomfortable walking at night. East of the 35 starts looking a little trashy, but Austin is rated the 3rd safest city in the U.S. Weekdays are very mellow, and rooms are aplenty- the weekends are packed, but the crowd seemed nice, and they supplement the weekend with an armed security patrol for peace of mind. I recommend this hotel. It was just fine.

“Downtown/University”

This Super 8 is the one in Downtown and near the University. The other Super 8 is misleading by naming itself Downtown/University.

“Perfect if visiting 6th st”

I was under the impression that we could walk to 6th st from our hotel. It was not quite close enough, however, it was only an $8 cab ride. The breakfast was only muffins and cereal. We needed a new comforter and sheets at about 3am and they brought them to our room within 5 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.

“Overall, pretty good”

Check in/out were fast and easy. Location was pretty good. Walking distance to downtown area. Room was way better than I thought it would be. Everything a traveler would need was in there. Room had iron, ironing board, hair dryer, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. CVS across the street. For the price this place really can't be beat.

“Perfect Location”

If you are attending an event at the Frank Erwin Center, you can't find a motel in a more perfect walking location! It's also walking distance to 6th Street. You can completely avoid the Austin traffic and a DWI. The rooms are acceptable... certainly a nice place to lay your head. The staff is friendly.
