functional

Posted Jun 1, 2015
Pros: simple and well located
Cons: breakfast - I didn't touch it as I have seen and sample these synthetic events before.
Location: UT Austin
I arrived, checked in, went to my room, stayed two days and left. It served my purpose. There was a cigarette burn mark on the bed cover, but no smell of cigarettes that I could notice.

Close to Erwin Frank Center

Posted May 23, 2015
Pros: Clean, needs met very well, reasonable, close to Erwin Frank Center
Cons: If the ac had a fan that would run constantly instead of just cycling from white noise to silence I would have given it a 5 in comfort
Location: Close to capital, 6th Street, Congress Street and all downtown area with easy access from 35.
We went to The Eagles concert at the Erwin Frank Center in Austin and wanted to be walk to the concert if possible to avoid the parking and leaving nightmare that usually comes when thousands of folks all try to leave on location at the same time. This hotel was an easy walk from the venue and a very reasonable price. When we drove up we were a bit concerned, it is a bit older looking from outside. I asked my husband, think we will be safe here, he looked a little skeptical but once inside to check in we were greeted by a lovely lady that was extremely helpful, very nice and put us at ease, gave us walking directions and even called to ensure we like our room after a few minutes of checking in. We liked being able to park right at our door so we didn't have far to go with the luggage. Once we opened the door I said "Oh how cute!" Large artsy pictures on the wall of the capital and other Austin sites, cute bedspreads and a very clean room with more than enough bathroom linens, necessary coffee pot, microwave and even a small fridge. The bed was a bit more firm than I like but still slept very well. We weren't bothered by the traffic noise at all and we were the second or so room from the front. The only thing that did disturb us a bit was the ac going from a good white noise to totally quiet as it cycled but we had a small fan we travel with and it helped with that and while we might stir a little when it went quiet we still slept well. We would not hesitate to stay here again

Close to 6th street

Posted May 20, 2015
The staff was very friendly and the rooms were an awesome value. They were comfortable and clean and the area was surprisingly quiet. It was a $5 cab ride to 6th street and the downtown venues...I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends....

Nice hotel but far from everything

Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Big spacious rooms. Free internet and breakfast. Microwave, iron and coffee/tea facilities in your room.
Cons: Internet. While it is free, it drops out occasionally. You either have to sit at your window or outside your door to get the better reception.
Location: Over the highway and detracted from everything. Denny's walking distance away
Rooms are big and spacious, but the location seems Far from the downtown area if you don't have a car. Buses run every 30 mins from the area, so it becomes an inconvenience.

Decent Austin Digs

Posted May 6, 2015
Pros: Decor was great. Hanging artwork, wood floors, newer fixtures. Room was very comfortable/pleasing. A good value, esp considering the location.
Cons: Radio kept shorting out, even when turned off. Disturbed overnight sleeping. Coffee maker hard to manage--shoved in a cubby hole and impossible to use
Location: Good location--great access to the University and downtown. But hotel is right off I35. Rather noisy.
Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast spread was decent. I had stayed in another Super 8 near UT. This one more centrally located; better furnishings and touches. Well kept/nicely appointed.

Beware of their billing practices

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Do something to help cancel out the street noise.
I placed this room on "hold." I was traveling with a group and another individual was in charge of paying. However, my credit card was charged a full 24 hours in advance of our arrival.

Super 8/Capitol Area Austin, Tx

Posted Mar 23, 2015
About a mile from downtown Austin and east 1-35, if your walking back from near the convention center it'll be uphill a bit. The room was clean although there was a slight odor in which I couldn't tell where it came from. The only thing I wasn't happy about were the comfort of the beds. I had a queen size bed and it was not comfortable at all, you could feel the box spring through the mattress, that didn't help much after a long day at SXSW.
