Not a great hotel

Posted Mar 31, 2014
There are so many other hotels in the area for less that are much safer than this hotel.

Great hotel close to downtown

Lovely staff. Comfy rooms. Great location. Breakfast too crowded. Responsive staff who immediately responded to our needs. Would stay here again.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

Posted Mar 23, 2014
Upon arrival, our room had no towels, soap, or shampoo. When we called down the receptionist said we had to go to them as she was the only one working. Once we walked down there were three people sitting at the desk. Once we got back to the room, we noticed that one of the towels was dirty. There were mutlitple run ins with the lady at the desk where she did not acknowledge the problems we were having. On a few of those occasions it was easier to accuse us of lying about the conditions of the hotel rather than fixing the problems. Problems ranged from bad internet, inadequate room amenities, and being locked out of our room as we apparently checked out and someone from expedia called to check out on our behalf.

Overcharged dump!

Posted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: Close proximity to the start of the race
Cons: Have engaged staff, tissues in the rooms, fix the front light, train the staff about how to give correct driving directions, don't overcharge
We paid at least twice as much as the normal rate because it was the weekend of the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon, and definitely did not get what we paid for. When I called to ask what exit off of I-35 the hotel was, the guy on the phone said 131C (it was 234A). We had trouble finding it because the giant Super 8 light was off (and we were driving at night). When I told the desk clerk that it was out, he didn't seem to care. They ran out of Austin maps. There was construction going on in surrounding rooms, so it was noisy most of the time. The room smelled, there were minimal amenities (they didn't even have tissues in the room), and the walls were paper thin.

Horrible experience with staff.

Posted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: I like the actual room. The loudness outside was what made me unable to sleep.
Cons: I think the staff could not approach guests in the parking in the dark without wearing hotel shirts and if they say you can park not make you move car
Location: I was on a conference for work and went to restaurants with other people I knew at the conference. It was mainly work related.
Four times I was approached in the parking lot about moving my car because they were working on parking lot. Twice was in the dark and I didn't know the man worked for the hotel and it scared me. I moved my car twice to area they said was okay and then still kept asking me to move, They would not allow me to use a restroom in the lobby when I arrived. The sign said no public restrooms but, I was staying for four nights. They also had construction that was worked on late in the evening that kept me up. Every time I exited my room there was heavy cigarette smoke. The hotel would not give me a bill of any sort claiming Expedia had to and Expedia would not give me an itemized bill.

Loud

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: I found the staff to be pleasant.
Cons: Once the renovations are done I think it will be a quieter, nicer place to stay. Hopefully they will buy some new towels.
Location: Downtown and the 6th street music district were close by.
The hotel was under large scale renovation that their add said was to be completed prior to my arrival date. The work was loud, directly above me and beside me, and it even took place early Saturday morning. They barely gave me any towels and the ones I got were worn out and stained. The staff was pleasant.

Will be great when construction is finished

Posted Feb 1, 2014
We chose this motel for its location and price. The room was a pleasant surprise - it had obviously been renovated recently, with wood and tile floors and fresh paint. Replacing the standard hotel carpet (which is usually suspicious at best) with wood is a fantastic idea because you can easily see that the floor has been cleaned. The room also had a nice TV with HBO, comfortable queen-size beds, a microwave, and a small refrigerator. It definitely exceeded my expectations for the price. The only negative thing I have to say about the experience is that the motel is still under construction. There was a sign in the lobby, but I don't remember seeing anything about the construction when I booked the room online. Once I was checking in and saw the sign it was a bit late to make other arrangements. The noise started at 7 am and was only 2 or 3 rooms down, so it was very disruptive. The renovations are unavoidable and are definitely increasing the value of the motel, but I wouldn't recommend staying here until they finish unless you want a 7 am wake up call.

Great

Posted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: Was able to get room online at 6pm and get room that night.
Cons: More pillows, elevator
Location: Texas Teachers Retirement, Denny's for late night snack
Great deal for the price. Clean, newly remodeled room. Good beds. We needed room fast. Ice and snow predicted for during night.. Got online at 6pm and got room for the night. Was able to be close for 9am appointment. Good thing everything was iced and roads closed when we woke up
