“Good Hotel with Style!”

Hotel is beautiful to look at & the rooms are all modern & very comfortable. The staff were helpful & attentive and the buffet breakfast was first class. One or two minor issues- we couldn't get BBC World or CNN on the TV due to satellite connection problems. Oudoor pool is old & not very clean & there was an additional charge to use the hotel Spa. Would have expected this would be included in the room price! Curia (the town) is small & there's little to do. If you have a car, go to Coimbra (old & beautiful University town), Bussaco (forest in the hills) or one of the many beaches!

“Pure Portugal”

The Palace Hotel is a hotel in the grand style built in the 1920s. It was completely renovated in 2008. There are some fine public rooms whilst the bedrooms (furnished in a modern style) are clean, comfortable and have good bathrooms. The restaurant serves a good breakfast buffet and the dinners are good if you choose carefully. The wine list is entirely Portuguese and gives the chance to try some excellent wines not available in England. Staff are very helpful and speak good English. It is an interesting place to stay. Drawbacks for some people may be that the swimming pool is only open at the peak season and that the Spa is expensive and limited in its services (the one in town is better). The hotel gardens make an immediate impression but it turns out there are few places to sit and pass the hours in a shady spot. As with many hotels, conferences can intrude upon a private stay. However, I would happily return.
