Run down hotel, terrible service

Posted Dec 13, 2013
Cons: Service, cleanness, doors, mirrors, windows need to be updated!
Location: Location is perfect!
Everything about this hotel was terrible. First they lost one of our bags, then they gave us a room that smelled terrible, it was dirty. room service low and slow!! food nothing to write home about. We complained and asked for a new room, it took them more than an hour to find us a new room and it was terrible as well. we stayed there when it was a Fairmont hotel and had the best of times. now it´s operated by Marriott and nothing worked out right! you have to wait forever to get your car, meanwhile everybody is smoking in your face, no one offered water or informed us when our car was ready.

Great property with some service challenges

Posted Nov 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was my second stay this year. The gym in the spa is first rate, the pool is perfect for lap swimming and the running path around the Isle takes about 25 minutes to circle. The check-in and check-out staff was on top of things. However, I was ignored by the valet when my car service pulled up. At breakfast, I asked for a newspaper and the hostess said she would look for one. After 10 minutes, I sought her out and she said: "Oh, I forgot. I guess we don't have any papers." I replied, "You do" and walked the 25 yards to the golf shop and paid $2.00 for one. It took about 30 seconds. The housekeeping staff was pleasant but forgot to replace my room's coffee amenties. Still ,the gym, location and desk staff help to set aside the other challenges.

I wanted to publicly say THANK YOU to the Turnberry Isle staff who turned an otherwise rough start to a romantic getaway into a great experience. My wife and I flew into Ft Lauderdale and picked up our rental car. But, just before leaving, the car rental rep says, "Oh, see that light on the dashboard (something to do with our tires)... That's a nonissue. We already fixed it." Of course, just a couple hours later, the back tire gets a flat about 1/4 mile from the hotel. We roll in and I'm pretty ticked off. I do NOT want to spend my first day on a long weekend dealing with getting the tire fixed. I mention it to the staff the next morning and he asks if I'd like help changing it. I tell him that would be great. I'm thinking he's going to help me change it. He asks, "When do you need it by?" I tell him 10 AM (in 30 min) and he responds with, "Ok, we'll take care of it." It was really nice to not have to worry about it. They didn't have to do that, but they did and it turned a big negative into a big positive. I should also state that ALL the staff were incredibly warm and attentive and made my wife and I feel well cared for and catered to. We will definitely stay here again. The ONLY drawback was the nickle and diming for everything. We paid $5 for a can of coke by the pool, $50 for salad and pizza (room service) etc. Not a deal breaker, but not necessary in my opinion either.
