A one night stopover enroute to Sevilla from Bilbao doesn't do avillia or this hotel justice. It's a beautiful town, rich in history and especially importanr for Catholics as this is the birthplace of one of our very important saints. The welcome from this hotel was wonderful. It's location is ideal and the room was suberb. I only reduced score by one point for a couple of lights that didn't work and our ensuite bathroom door that kept jamming, once with 2 yr old inside. Never resulted in call to reception but a couple of anxious kids for a few moments but hey, they got over it! I would definately return.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Everything was great, food and staff too. They organised a courtesy room so we could change our clothes and stored our suitcases so we didn't have to drag them around the town for the whole afternoon.

We had a lovely room with a very comfortable bed. The main area is beautiful with the old columns and comfortable seating in the plaza-like area on the main floor. You can have a coffee or wine or something to eat right there! It is a former palace right next to the Cathedral. The streets are narrow with charming restaurants where you can eat outside or in. We climbed on the old medieval city walls for a small fee (if you are a senior over 65, the discounts for several places are half price....just show a passport for proof of age). From Avila here, you are a short drive to Segovia, if you rented a car, which we did. Driving in Spain is easy. The roads were excellent! There are tolls, but we often took the other roads which were just as nice, but slower speed limits. In Segovia, the huge Roman aquaduct is something to see! It is also not far at all to the huge bustling city of Madrid. We turned in the rental car at the Madrid airport and got a taxi to our hotel. Just walk, tour, or take the metro or bus (also easy to do). But we loved our stay in Avila. It is small and quaint and historical. The hotel staff was very helpful any time we needed anything, including mapping out areas for us. They spoke English which was a big help since we know limited Spanish. The rooms don't have AC until June 1 (by law), but we opened up the big windows which helped. We were there in mid-May so evenings were cool while the days were pleasant....mid-70's.

Overnight stop on way through Spain. Staff exceptionally friendly and pleasant and room attractive and clean. Only problem was that bed too hard for me ( but then I like a soft bed). Food in the evening pretty poor but it is not designed as that sort of hotel. Breakfast perfectly adequate. Charge of 10 Euros per night for our dog v reasonable and garage parking for car
Will definitely stay at this chain again when traveling.
