Nice Hotel, staff does need a lot of training

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Maintenance and surrounding were OK
Cons: training of the HR is urgently needed. It comes across that they want to do a good job, but lack training.
The hotel is different, but OK! Staff does need a lot of training. Besides the person at the reception, we had people knocking in our room at 8.30AM on a Saturday , and somebody entering the room at 11.30 when we were finishing packing.

Traditional Updated

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: Coffee, tea, etc. out 24/7 and the sheets and pillows were really soft, in addition to all the positives noted above.
Cons: Don't need a/c blasting upon arrival in room. Ditto public areas. Sufficient a/c is good, but it seemed excessive for comfort & energy conservation.
The Avon Old Farms Hotel is a traditional property and much of the decor fits that characterization. However, for the most part I thought the furnishings, etc. were in good shape, attractive and included modern touches like flat screen TV, so as not to seem dated. I don't like staying in tired or dated places, and as my schedule worked out, I stayed there one night as scheduled, checked out and happily returned the very next night. The property is very attractive, nestled with amongst pines and other species. Little white lights adorn the trees in front of one of the main buildings. My sister and I ate on the patio of the restaurant. I had sea bass which was excellent, w/ a nice crust on it sitting on a bed of white beans w/ pancetta and 1/2 doz. mussels - yum! My sister got a Reuben sandwich as one could order from the pub or dinner menu. The bar area and main restaurant were traditional New England, but again attractive, not dated. If you want a pool, it's set at the rear of the property surrounded by trees, very pretty.

Recommendation on Booking

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Location to what we wanted to do and their facilities
We did book through Expedia an "economy" room with a queen size bed. That was in the older part of the hotel, the bed looked like a regular double bed, and the room was small and crowded. We rejected it, and they rebooked us with a King size bed in a room that was left, that turned out to be a King Size Deluxe room, at no extra charge. The newer rooms where we have stayed before are excellent, the restaurant very good. I would certainly recommend against booking one of their "economy" rooms.

Incredibly old and never upgraded everything.

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Everything still works but was never upgraded. Carpet was discusting to step on. Plumbing was working but handles were missing. Very creepy. Should be called a motel since its one level. Better and much newer hotels were available for literally half the price.

Great dining

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: After arriving exhausted from a long drive, the dining room was a welcome retreat. Great meal!
Cons: The hotel was cutting down some trees and we couldn't enjoy the pool area.
Location: Close to Noah Webster House, mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses.
Overall the hotel met but did not exceed my expectations.

Great service and experience.

By far the best hotel I have stayed at in the Hartford area. Has the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons experience at a local inn.

Amazing Hotel!

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: It felt historical but everything was modern and comfortable
Cons: i wish there were outlets by the nightstand!
Location: Stayed here for a half marathon in Simsbury. Very quick drive and the whole area is just beautiful and relaxing.
Beautiful hotel - supremely comfortable bed - slept better than I have in a long time! Staff was polite and helpful - it was just an all around pleasant stay.

Edles Hotel nahe Hardfort, ct

Posted Jun 6, 2015
Pros: Das edle und großzügige Ambiente
Cons: Nein
Sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft

Excellent accommodations

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: The smell of disinfectant was a bit overpowering in the outer area and hallways outside Room 142 where I stayed
Location: Shopping, movie theater, exercise, restaurants, gasoline stations---everything you'd need or want.
Very pleasant stay, very clean, parking very easy, nice pool area
