“Comfy, friendly, good value. So good we went back!”

We first stayed in this hotel in July this year after choosing it 'blind' from the internet and were very impressed. The room rate was reasonable - we have paid more for far worse!! - and our room was superb - we were delighted to be given the same one when we went back this week. It was clean and fresh, had loads of storage room, and was nice and big, with a large seating area and lovely bathroom. Free wifi too. The staff were all very friendly, and the food was very good. There's also a smallish but very nice swimming pool and fitness area. I used the pool more than once as I love to be able to swim while on holiday. If I'm to be picky, there were small niggles like having to walk past the kitchen area to get to the bedrooms, piles of linen lying in the corridor outside the room in the mornings, and we found the room over-heated this time (though that's better than it being too cold). It was hard to get room service at one point as the staff were all in a meeting. But these are minor points and would certainly not prevent us going back. It performs very well in the areas that really matter. The location is good - on the seafront yet not far from the main shopping area, which has a range of shops and places to eat. We would be more than happy to stay at the Fairfield House each time we go to Ayr. We're glad we found it.

“Superb hotel, but ....”

This was an excellent hotel in so many ways. The rooms were beautiful, leisure centre excellent- pool and jacuzzi lovely and warm - staff so friendly and helpful. Why the but? Relatively minor but rather strange in a hotel otherwise so well maintained and managed. If the hot water in our room had not been in use for some time it had to be run on all taps - basin bath and bidet - for an unbelievable time, at least 5 minutes, before it even started to turn warm. Indeed, so much so that, when first encountered, we were covinced there was no hot water at all. A shame, but otherwise we could not fault the hotel in any way.

“Avoid room number 1”

All in all a nice hotel, however there was a wedding there and I believe we got the last room if you get the picture. Bar and restaurant area were very nice but our room was like a prison cell. No windows in the room and the bathroom window opened onto the kitchen extractor fan so if you opened it your whole room smelled of chip fat. The new extended area of the hotel had lots of newer rooms which i'm sure are very nice . We just weren't priviledged enough to see them. We asked to be moved but the staff were pretty unhelpful.
