Family ReunionPosted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: The food was delicious.
Cons: I hope the hotel finishes refurbishing their hotel rooms.
Location: The hotel is really in the middle of nowhere. While it is right on the highway, there are not any attractions within walking distance.
I stayed at the Fenwick Hotel recently to do some family history research and meet some of my new cousins for the first time. The food was delicious and the wait-staff, especially Aileen, were excellent! There is a good selection of mixed drinks and beers on tap in the bar. The public spaces have been renovated and makes the hotel look very up-to-date and modern. The problem is they haven't finished updating the hotel rooms. While my cousin had a newly refurbished room (room 4), I had room 11 which didn't appear to be renovated and was just plain awkward. The room wasn't uncomfortable, but it was clear that little attention was paid to details. The lamp above the bed had a broken lampshade which was hanging over the edge of the sconce bracket. The light bulb was also clearly burnt out. They taped the lampshade back on the 2nd day I was there, but never changed the bulb. The room had a nice large desk to work from, but their was no lamp to light it... the garbage can for the room, was under the desk chair, which I kept knocking over whenever I moved. The bathroom looked like it had been modernized, but this dumb American could NOT get the shower to work no matter how hard I tried. It was either blazingly hot or freezing cold. There was a coffee/tea maker in the room which I used every day, but would have liked a mini refrigerator. All-in-all, I enjoyed my stay, but look forward to one of the 'new rooms' next time I visit.

Great value with a very comfortable bedPosted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Staff; food and great bed.
Cons: Shower exit and choice of pillows.
Location: Ayr is 30 minutes away with superb beach & great Burns Centre, birthplace, so many places named in his poetry. Also many great golf courses.
Very good value B&B with an very good quality of food and wines etc. at reasonable prices for dinner. The staff could not be more friendly. If traffic noise from the M77 could be a problem ask for a quiet room. Only minor criticisms are no grab handle getting out of the "shower in a bath" and I personally don't like man made pillows..

hotel beside a motorwayPosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: It was adequate
Cons: Traffic noise in the bedrooms needs to be addressed
Location: Fenwick is a nice village but hotel is directly beside a motorway
This is a nice hotel but the proximately to the motorway means there is traffic noise throughout the night.

Quality of pillows let the rest of the room experience down.
