The Hotel Rancho EncantadoPosted Oct 31, 2013
Pros: The quiet surroundings. The romantic dinners by candle light on the shoreline.
Cons: The entrance road. it is a bit hard to find and is in need of repair.
Location: The Hotel is located near a little town of Bacalar. The area is known for the large lagoon of seven colors, and a cenote.
This stay was by far more than we had expected. The name "Hotel Rancho" gave us thoughts of some Mexican Ranch style hotel. We could not have been more wrong. The hotel was a pleasing water front, garden and forest property. Various flowers and never before seen fruit type trees with well kept grounds, welcome you. This hotel is not like the average hotel, it is more like a summer retreat. There is a board walk out to the water where you will find hammocks to relax in after the trip there. The Hotel is a bit of a drive from the town of Tulum, where our base resort was located, but a short drive from the Belize border and Chetumel. The food was great and made fresh when ordered. The staff friendly and ready to help anyway they can.

"Enchanted" is rightPosted Jul 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Everything was great. Bacalar is such a beautiful place and Rancho Encantado is a perfect fit. It's on a nice part of the lagoon and we were not left wanting anything. The food was really good, though the buffet was expensive. GET THE GUAYABA CHEESECAKE!!! I still have dreams about it..

Our best experience in BacalarPosted Jul 12, 2013
Pros: No need to leave the hotel, the food was great.
Cons: It can be a favourite of families with kids. But worth it if you can get past that.
Rancho Encantado delivers on all levels. From the start Isabella made us feel welcome and explained all the amenities including the free use of paddle boarding, kayaks and wi-fi. My review is influenced by the amazing Cabana 8 which has it's own private sun lounges, hammock, king size bed and porch which provide a great view across the lake.. Put simply possibly one of the best swim up rooms in Mexico. (Guys if your partner isn't impressed with this room and location, you may like to reconsider why she is with you). The food was outstanding fish crumbed in coriander seeds, a selection of local twists on Mexican favorites and chocolate and coconut ice cream. Tours and day spa treatments are available and can be booked at reception. The 4hr boat cruise, swim / drift through the rapids and Mayan mud spa experience is recommended. The only thing that I can say I was disappointed with at Rancho Encantado is that we were unable to book the 3 nights before we actually arrived. The fact that this was due to a wedding party booking the rooms out is totally understandable, I am glad that we got the nights we did and would have no hesitation staying here or recommending it.

It is a nice eco hotel by the bacalar lagoon. The view and service are excellent . Would not recommend to take kids. They will get bored, no tv. This place is catering to relax and enjoy nature.

wonderful breakfast!Posted Mar 25, 2013
While the hotel was very charming and pleasant and staff outstanding, the room did not have much privacy. That was it's only drawback. The breakfast which was included was fantastic, very impressive!!

Tranquil resort on the lagoonPosted Mar 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel Rancho Encantado is very peaceful and relaxing. The grounds are beautifully maintained and lush with vegetation and the sound of birds. Our casita was spacious, clean and comfortable with a slightly rustic feel but in a really good way. Except for one server that we had both nights at the restaurant, all the other wait staff, receptionists and grounds staff were very friendly, helpful, professional and hardworking. The large waterfront palapa restaurant is lovely and the menu fairly extensive with Mexican, Mayan and American choices. A very sufficient tasty continental breakfast is included in the room price. We also really enjoyed paddling the complimentary kayaks on the lagoon, relaxing in the hammocks on the dock and soaking in the jacuzzi. The hotel is very close to the town of Bacalar and also to Cenote Azul and a good base for exploring the ruins in this area. We would definitely recommend this resort.
