Location is amazing

This is an older lodge which has undergone some renovations. The location overlookng the Brador Lakes alone is worth the stay. I highly recommend this for a family stay.

You're paying for the view

Did a few days in Cape Breton and Silver Dart is nice if you really want to stay in Baddeck. After staying a hotels $30-40 cheaper per night but far superior in quality, cleanliness & nice breakfasts (eg the Hampton in Sydney) you are really paying for location and a view (if you spring the extra $10 to see the Bras d'Or lake out your window. Personally, I was expecting more for the price. Beds and room furnishings looked like old dorm furniture, and our room had quite the funky smell.

We had a great view from our hotel room looking right out on the lake. The one thing that was not very nice was that no breakfast was included in our room rate. There was a restaurant where we could purchase breakfast buffet for $12.95 a person which we thought was a bit expensive. ( You could also order from a breakfast menu which was really-really expensive.) This hotel was near the beginning of the Cabot trail which was a plus.

Use hotel as a stop over only

Posted Oct 1, 2013
Pros: Close to city centre and quiet.
Cons: We were at times able to her the people in the next room. It's is the first time in our 4 weeks away that this has occurred.
Location: Alexander Graham Bell exhibit not far. Gateway to the Cabot Trail which you can drive in one day. Louisbourg Fortress was also drivable from here.
We stayed here at the end of a long day driving the Cabot Trail. We used none of the facilities, however, there were many and it would have been nice to utilise some of them. The hotel was I. A nice quiet location. From what I could see the main part of town was walking distance.

A little expensive for a "motel" quality hotel

Pros: Restaurant
It was a bit too expensive for what it was. Restaurant was very good for both dinner and breakfast.

Nice view, dingy room

Overall it was good, but the room we stayed in was a bit dingy and hard to breathe.
