“Clean but out-dated”
The woman at the registration desk was rude, matter of fact, gave specific instructions about check out receipt given to you at time of registration so as not to be bothered again at check out,,,, No welcoming smile or gestures, no information regarding breakfast location, availability, or anything.... room had strong deodorizing odor so had to leave door open for awhile to get used to smell or air out, not sure which happened. After reading all customer reviews, this was least offensive hotel in area...
“Rude Front Desk”
Front Desk Staff is rude and unpleasant. I was having a very nice day after visiting the Badlands the former Minuteman Missile site (both run by the National Park Service - highly recommend the Minuteman visit if you're in the area), as well as the very well done Wounded Knee museum in town (also thumbs up recommendation). Yet, I was in a bad mood for almost two hours after checking in because the lady at the front desk seemed to go out of her way to be unpleasant repeatedly. Requests we made about the room and parking and such were all answered with an acid bath I'd rather forget.
“Perfect for One Night in Wall!”
Better continental breakfast than I expected. We booked one room for our family of 4 (two almost adult children) and the room was a little small - but it was was clean and more than adequate for what we were looking for - a one night stay while we were coming through Wall, SD.
“A Great Experience”
the Best Western Plains Motel was a great hotel to stay at when visiting Wall and the Badlands. The staff was pleasant and helpful at check in and were willing to answer all of our question about the area. Our room was clean and spacious. The indoor pool and hot tub was a great place to relax after a long day of traveling. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit the area.
“Hotel fine but steer clear of Wall”
On our recent 5-day vacation in the Black Hills we decided to stay one night in Wall because it is so convenient to the Badlands and Minuteman Missle NHS. Big mistake. We should have stayed in Rapid City every night and made the 60-mile trip from there. Nothing was wrong with the hotel except it lacked a refrigerator in our room. The room was comfortable and the Barcalounger and flat screen TV were nice touches and essentially made up for the lack of a refrigerator. The lady at the front desk and the housekeeping staff were very friendly and there was no problem with our reservation or anything else. Very clean, quiet, and peaceful. All in all we felt the hotel was fine and would be happy to recommend it if you're unlucky enough to find yourself in Wall, which reportedly was founded because it has the only good drinking water for many miles around and apparently continues to exist only because of its proximity to the Badlands and the Sturgis Rally. Oh, and it also has the world-famous Wall Drug, which constitutes most of the downtown. Of course we did visit Wall Drug which I guess could qualify as entertainment if you like looking at enormous quantities of cheap Chinese plastic stuff, most of which is emblazoned with "Wall SD" or "Sturgis Rally". Forget about finding a decent meal or good beer/wine anywhere in this town unless you start knocking on doors. On the bright side, after this our next four nights in Rapid City seemed fantastic.
