Acceptably average

As with many hotels, the Waldgasthoff in Buchenhain has it's pros and cons. I was in Munich on business, and for me the hotel was in an excellent location. The hotel is in a traditional baverian style, and looks a little worn and dated in parts. The wooden flooring in my room creaked no end, and the sound transmission through the walls was pretty poor. On several occasions I was woken by the activities of those in surrounding rooms, but at least the bed was comfortable enough and the room was kept very clean. The hotel also has a large beer garden to the front, and on days of good weather this can be very busy, but is a great place to soak up the sun and local culture (beer).

Loved the location, we didn't want to be in the city. It was right next to the train station, Friendly staff and a good restaurant.Would like to go there again.

rustic, close to south Munich

The hotel was charming, the breakfast was delicious and complete, the service was without any problem. In the summer, this would be a wonderful site of a biergarten! You just need to figure out how to find it.

Enjoy Bavaria

Clean and comfortable rooms are small by U.S. standards but are typical of small hotels in the area. Owners are often present and working to serve clients. The buffet breakfast is very good and the restaurant meals are of excellent quality. The meals are typical of the area, tasty and you don't go away hungry. The S-Bahn, rapid transit system, is located not far from the front of the hotel, it runs frequently and gives access to downtown Munich in about 20 minutes, an easy way to see this wonderful city.

Quiet location, fast access to Munich city centre

Posted Aug 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel is opposite the train station (2min walk) which has trains going directly into Munich city centre every 20 mins. There's ample parking space (important for us) and the rooms very nice and clean. Breakfast was good too and WiFi was available.
