“Great stay”
Great hotel, staff and grounds. Ridiculously close to the airport which is very convenient but can get a bit loud. The beach is kind of small but helpful concierge will direct you to other beaches close by which you can get to via bus/cab or scooter
“March Trip to Grotto Bay”
The hotel is clean. The from our ocean view room was beautiful. The caves were more impressive than I expected them to be from the pictures, and you can swim in them! We went in March, but the pool was heated and warm enough to swim in. Their beach is a little small, so during the busy summer months I can imagine it would be crowded. Since we were there in March there was plenty of room on the beach, at the pool, and in the dining area. The food at the hotel is expensive, but a warning to all travelers to Bermuda- all of the food all over the islands is fairly expensive. We really enjoyed our stay at Grotto Bay, and i would go back any time!
“Did not want to leave...”
Although we did not have the beachfront room, we had a splendid view of the water and was able to see the sunrise from our room. The cave swimming, shipwreck to snorkel, and the heated pool made the stay fun. The Swizzle Inn restaurant was just a short walk up the road and became one of our favorite spots. The bus service picks up and was easy to use. The "free-range" roosters were comical to hear in the wee morning hours. Enjoyed the tea time with snacks in the afternoon. It is humid on Bermuda so be prepared to stay "wet". The staff was pleasant and willing to accomodate needs. Recommend going to local grocery store for coffee and drinks (alcohol) because everything is expensive but the rooms come with a fridge. My husband and I enjoyed the island and our stay at Grotto Bay. We went in the off season in mid- March. But, the buses were not crowded and no waiting to be seated at restaurants. The water is very chilly that time of year so rent or bring a wet suit to snorkel the waters. It makes it more enjoyable.
“25th Anniversary”
Even though the hotel is close to the airport, there is no noise from the planes. The view of the bay from the rooms is tremendous and very comforting after a long day sightseeing. The housekeeping staff responded promptly to our concern of a non-working refrigerator on our arrival. They also did a wonderful job cleaning the room each day and were very thorough. The breakfast buffet offered each day is a great deal for the money and the service in the Hibiscus Room was very good. The waiter we had the most was named James, and he did a wonderful job of being attentive and friendly. The only complaint we had about service was on our first night in we ate at the Palms Court and the service was very slow, although the food was good when we were finally able to order it. We had the priviledge of getting to know Esme of Guest Services, She had a way of making you feel like family. She was very helpful in giving us ideas of what to do while we were there, and even called us from her home when she realized one our our bus connections may not be able to be met. The front desk was very helpful with the exception of one day we were out at Clearwater Beach and called to get a taxi to pick us up and return us to the hotel. After 25 minutes we called back to find out what happened to the taxi and found out the girl never forwarded the request to the doorman who notified the taxis. Our second call solved the problem. Other than these two problems we would give the service 5 of 5.
“A wonderful getaway.”
A wonderful getaway. Starting with just a 5 minute drive from the airport to the friendly staff this was a great hotel. The property was beautiful, the beach and heated pool all just perfect. We met many people who were repeat visitors to Grotto Bay and we can see why.Bermuda is a great destination. Get a bus pass and enjoy getting around on the buses and the ferrries. E Michael, what a perfect host to welcome you, all the friendly and helpful staff, afternoon tea, all just the right mix of friendliness but plenty of space to be alone when you wanted to be.Swizzles down the street for meals was a nice little restaurant and the food at the hotel was yummy, especially sitting by the pool. Can't wait to go back to Grotto Bay Hotel.
“Great Stay at Grotto Bay”
This was the second time staying at this hotel in the last 24 months. Each time we had a wonderful experience. The staff is warm and extremely helpful, they could not have been any nicer. The rooms (both times) were clean with a beautiful view of the ocean. The grounds are well maintained and lovely. The photographs depicted the room provided, no suprises. There is a small cave on the property where you can explore and swim. Afternoon tea was a nice extra at no charge. There is a convient bus stop right in front of the hotel which allows one to get anywhere on the island. The hotel sells bus tickets, we bought one for three days travel and it was worth the $28, per person charge. We went from one end of the island and back several times in the time there. I would highly recommend this hotel. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant this stay but did last time and it was very good. There are a few local restaurants within walking distance.
“Great stay at Grotto Bay in March”
Our deluxe ocean front room was as advertised: recently updated furnishings, beautiful view of the bay. The resort grounds were well maintained. The pool and hot tub were excellent. The small beach was very pleasant. On site water sports were convenient. We were very fortunate to get unusually nice weather for mid March which made for a wonderful stay. The on site grottos are unique, and there are 2 interesting hikes accessible from the resort. Access to the rest of the island is by bus which can be time consuming but not too bad (don't expect to be able to bicycle from the hotel, the roads are too narrow/hilly and there is too much traffic). The Swizzle Inn is walking distance. Didn't try the resort restaurants but there was both a high end and casual offering which is convenient. Breakfast foods were available a la carte. I would strongly recommend Grotto Bay to couples or families.
“grotto bay resort bermuda”
clean, bright, extremely helpful staff. Food was excellent. Most respectful people I've ever met. Staff went out of their way to ensure all our needs were met perfectly. Will most definitely return.
“Excellent”
Beautiful setting, great value! Very accomodating to all of our requests,
“Second time at Grotto Bay and liked it even more!”
We enjoyed our stay at Grotto Bay 3 years ago so we wanted to go back. I think the hotel was better than three years ago. I enjoyed the food in the restaurants. We had 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner. We like to eat at different restaurants. The ease of using the bus is wonderful. Riding the bus is like being on a tour. The island is so beautiful. I loved my room as it faced the airport. I could watch the jets land and take off but you are not disturbed by the noise. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The grotto is the coolest place and the beach was lovely, I will be returning to Bermuda in another 2 or 3 years and will absolutely return to Grotto Bay.
