Are we in Bakersfield?

Amazing and unexpected luxury in Bakersfield. Upscale and funky hotel with excellent service, great food, and very comfortable rooms at a great price! We couldn't ask for more. If you are going to stay in Bakersfield, you must stay here.

Overnight stay on the way back to San Francisco. Would have liked to stay longer and explore old downtown.

Great hotel!

Posted Feb 15, 2015
Pros: Friendliness of the staff. Cleanliness.
Stayed 2 nights. Everyone that I encountered was very friendly and helpful. In town to see a concert at the Rabobank Arena and the hotel was very close. Totally would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Nice, modern hotel.

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Cons: The sheets didn't fit the King Size bed we had in our room. It looked like they had tried to fit a queen size fitted sheet onto the mattress topper.
Very nice hotel. It has been nicely renovated and has a very modern feel. The rooms are small but well appointed.

Great downtown hotel

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: It's nice to be able to park your car and walk around downtown. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
I always enjoy staying at the Padre. If you are staying on the weekend and you want a quiet night, you may want to request a quiet room. There is a night club on the floor level of the hotel and sound will carry if your room is on the same side as the club. The rooms are nicely appointed and beds are comfy.

Interesting hotel in historic Bakersfield

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: The architecture of the building has remained intact, and yet the rooms have all been updated.
Cons: There could be a blow dryer in the bathroom.
Location: There were several interesting restaurants nearby and a candy shop with delicious sweets which had been in business since 1909.
We spent just one night at the Padre on "Formal Night" for Bakersfield High School. There was also a wedding going on in the hotel, so there were guests coming and going all evening. Despite all the crowds, the staff was welcoming and friendly, and the dinner service prompt. The food was delicious, especially the soup special and the beautiful and creative dessert. There was also not too much noise for the guests who were not part of the wedding reception nor participating in the "Formal Night."
