Balaclava is home to the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. Filled with a variety of palms, the 37 hectare space is also home to the native Victoria regia water lilies which bloom most beautifully in January and for which the garden is famous.
