very relaxing

Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Rooms were nice and clean, towels replaced and rooms cleaned daily. If you get room 16 there are some cats that hang out on the roof opposite. Cool.
Cons: Key for safe didn't exist and staff did not provide one after requested, door could use a bit of a plane and re fit.
Location: Lots to do if you are a diver but if not hire a scooter for $5 from the hotel and do a progressive lunch up and down the main road.
Just came back from Amed and had a good time, even though it was a bit of a long day to get there with flight and then travel time from Kuta. Would probably stop a day before going up next time to break it up a bit. Once there though, was surprised how quiet and layed back it was both at Arya and out and about. Certainly I would recommend hiring a scooter to get around which we did the second day.

The perfect getaway

Posted Oct 2, 2013
Pros: The staff / the pool / the location
Cons: The air-conditioning in our room kept playing-up, but it wasn't too much a problem as the staff organised for it to be fixed quickly.
Location: Hire a motorbike and spend a few hours exploring the gorgeous coastline north and south of Arya Amed. Snorkelling at Lipah Beach was amazing.
We stayed 11 nights at the Arya Amed Beach Resort in late August, and we couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to stay. We needed a place where we could have peace and quiet to unwind and escape from western life, and that is exactly what we found at this resort. If you're looking for a piece of paradise that will take you away from it all, this is it.

Lovely staff & beautiful area

Posted Sep 18, 2013
Pros: Great location, wonderful staff, very comfortable (huge) bungalows! Fantastic value!
Cons: A minor water stain was found on the ceiling / wall of our bungalow, but everything truly is well maintained
Location: Snorkelling & diving nearby, but excursions to other locations also available. You can also travel to the Gili Islands from Amed
This was our first stop in Bali, and everything we had been looking for. It takes about 3 hours to get there from the airport in Denpasar, and the drive it quite lovely! We were able to arrange transportation from the airport with the resort directly, for a fee. The resort is more rural, and much more relaxed than what you will find in the southern areas of Bali. A lovely peaceful setting, although everything you need is easily accessible. The photos online don't do the resort justice. It is a great place for couples, but is also very family friendly. Arya Amed is quite a walk (about 30 minutes) from the great snorkelling at Jemeluk Bay. We enjoyed the walk, although be aware that there is quite a hill you will be climbing up and down, so it isn't suitable for those with limited mobility or fitness levels. For those who would rather not walk, it is very easy to arrange transport. The highlight of our stay was absolutely meeting the wonderful Made, one of the restaurant staff. All of the staff in the restaurant are fantastic, but Made was especially sweet to us. We look forward to returning here the first chance we get!

Great hotel, very peaceful :)

Posted Aug 17, 2013
Pros: Chalet type rooms, layout.
Cons: Breakfast menu if you stayed longer, not much choice, same everyday.
Location: Loved it, great if you love peace and quiet.
Loved the hotel, only stayed 3 night but wish we had stayed longer as Amed was so nice. The staff were great and so friendly with my 7 year old he wanted to be with them all the time. Loved the restaurant near the beach and pool. Breakfast were good but would have been boring if we had stayed longer, not so much variety. A breakfast buffet would be good :) We were out a lot of the time, used the Dive Center there which was very good and very friendly. Amed was very spaced out so we rented a scooter. My boy loved it there but some kids maybe bored, very quiet place :)

The location was great, on the beach. Hotel was very luxury, rooms were very romantic, pitty I was staying with a friend. The only problem was we found out later after a long night out wanted to have a shower to find the shower was not functional at all. I complained in the morning about the shower, the staff was very helpfull and managed to turn the shower on, but it was too late as we were catching the ferry and had no time left.

Peaceful & relaxing

Posted Apr 10, 2013
Pros: The pool area and the massages. The staff were great particularly Madi in the restaurant. She was so friendly and helpful and I miss her lovely smile.
Cons: The so-so menu in the restaurant and the constant feeling of being on display from the locals trying to drum up business from the beach.
Location: Tranquil, green & beautiful.
This was my second stay at Arya Amed and once again it was a lovely peaceful, relaxing time. As before the only thing that stopped it from being fantastic was the food in the restaurant. Serviceable but nothing special. It might be time to have a chef with a little passion create a new menu with some oomph. That said, the staff were terrific and always ready with a smile, available for a chat and eager to please. The best part was relaxing by the pool and having massages in the Bali Hut next to the pool overlooking the ocean. I was a little more adventurous this time about going out to eat. After trying a few places, the best find was a new restaurant called Bali Harmony operated by a pint sized dynamo named Anise. She was so passionate about her cooking and accommodated my travelling companion who is vegetarian and having trouble finding anything interesting to eat. After a chat with Anise in the morning, we turned up each night for dinner with a custom prepared meal ready to go. If you visit her, don't leave without trying her coconut rolls for dessert!
