Best hotel we have ever stayed in!!Posted Nov 4, 2013
Booked a wedding package at hotel Tugu. The hotel was picture perfect! Every inch of the hotel had something interesting to see. The antique furniture and decorations were amazing. The staff was the best! From the management to the wait staff and cleaners they were all eager to help. The food at the hotel was some of the best meals we had in Bali!! Thanks to the staff for making the stay one of the best vacations we have ever had!! We will definitely be coming back when we visit bali again!!

The best place in Bali - bar none!Posted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: everything - service, smiles, the grand entrance, the rooms - especially 203, the pool (bliss), the ocean, the daybeds, the lily ponds, the "old" Bali
Cons: nothing - perfect
Location: Canggu is great and really feels like the "old" Bali - the one I visited 20 years ago. Still close to Kuta etc but could be a million miles away...!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! As someone who has travelled 5 star for a number of years (15) and who meticulously researches expedia/tripadvisor etc, I have to tell you that this place is special. We turned up not knowing what to expect and were completely blown away - the pics dont do it justice. A 5 star resort but feels like "old" Bali.. Serene, calm, peaceful, soul cleansing, heaven. Ari and Maggie set the tone with superb service - an amazing entrance and even more amazing rooms - done with that "old Bali" feel of dark woods, exotic scents, rich fabrics and comfort - a real taste of Bali - NOT the Kuta/Seminyak experience where you dont dare venture out of your 5 star hotel (although Kuta is only 30 mins away and AUD$7 to get there!). The pool and the beach - a surfing beach - are amazing - there is no one selling you stuff, the food is great and there are numerous cafes around the complex. We stayed in Room 203 - like a 5 star treehouse overlooking the ocean - absolutely beautiful - waking up to breakfast in your own luxury room, opening your sliding doors to another room with 180 degree views of the ocean followed by lounging by the pool or the fantastic day beds by the ocean - bliss. I could not recommend highly enough - what a secret little piece of heaven. Go now, as I dont reckon this will be a secret long!

Beautiful hotel, very private and comfortablePosted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: Everything worked. No request was too much trouble.
Cons: I have no practical suggestions, as everything about the hotel was brilliant.
Location: Bali was just as I'd imagined it would be. The towns were busy. The airport (DPS) is beautiful and efficient. Villages were quieter and picturesque.
The room was fantastic, a standard double. Loads of space. Small private pool in pretty back garden to the room. Rustic appearing bathroom was attractive and practical. Very interesting and picturesque hotel, with well maintained grounds. The staff were great. Everyone was extremelyhelpful, and the service was impeccable. The food was fantastic. We tried many of the Balinese and Javan meals, and enjoyed them all. No complaints whatsoever. The beach was very close and a waiter was always on hand to fetch drinks and food.

Unique Lombok luxury hotel at the beachPosted Oct 2, 2013
Pros: We had a suite on the beach - walked past our own plunge pool with infinity edge right out to the powdery white beach.
Cons: Rooms are somewhat dark - vintage, colonial luxe feel so this is understandable, but putting in a couple of sky-lights would improve ambiance.
Location: Location is North Lombok, no village or restaurants nearby. this means no annoyance of constant peddlers on the beach.
Luxurious hotel on the beach in Lombok. Mostly couples of all ages - very romantic atmosphere, candles everywhere at night. Beach is not really swimmable because of coral and rocks coming right up to the shore, but a dip is great. Lovely huge pool. Wide expanse of empty beach, walk for hours in either direction with few people except pearl divers. Beach drinks service great - great quality tropical drinks brought right to your chair. Nightly private dining steps from the ocean. Food is excellent, but pricey. Service is tops - staff called us by name on day one, and warmly welcomed my teenage daughter. Exclusive and worth the price.

great hotel off the beaten trackPosted Jul 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Bali is overpopulated with terrible traffic. This place is an oasis but it is stressful to get here. It has some rooms with pools, though ours was a little green =. In compensation, the management let u use the 0wner's villa. If I had to do it again, I would spend less time in Bali - overrated but this place is fine, and like a museum.

Delightful hotel with Balinese feelPosted Jun 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
We wanted somewhere in Canggu to stay and the Hotel Tugu was just perfect . from the moment you arrive and walk into the massive reception room which has the most enormously high pitched ceiling , all Balinese and open windows overlooking lush green garden you know you have arrived somewhere special. The dining choices are wonderful and the food was great. we stayed in an upstairs suite - comfy bed , spacious, with sea views which was lovely . I think next time we ll try the downstairs suite with own plunge pool- but both are lovely. The main pool is very pleasant , and this part of the garden opens to the beach road so you can walk over a grassy area to the Tugu beach chairs. A short walk, less than 10 minutes along the beach takes you to Echo beach which is popular with surfers. echo beach has cafes and seafood BBq in the evenings , like going back intime to the 70's. Dont know how long this vibe will remain though as there are many buildings going up all over Canggu. But the tranquility and style of Hotel Tugu is a real haven and worth seeking out. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. In all we really enjoyed Tugu and will be back for the authentic Balinese hospitality. Dont go if you want super slick , modern! This hotel is totally charming because it is quite unique. A gem .

A little piece of ParadisePosted Apr 20, 2013
Pros: Traditional surroundings and tranquillity
Cons: Needing room service for tea/coffee
Location: Hotel is located on the Beach (surfing not swimming). Not near shops and other Restaurants. These easily accessible with excellent transport service.
What a beautiful example of traditional Bali. Such serene surroundings and delightful staff, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel is best suited to couples who enjoy the peace away from the busy shopping areas and traffic. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Love this hotel!Posted Jan 12, 2013
Could not speak more highly of this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating to all our needs and the layout and decoration of it was spectacular. It is a little out of the way of the main town but the hotel is happy to arrange free transport when they can, and reliable taxis all other times. In my opinion, perfect setting for a honey moon or just a well deserved couples retreat. Would definitely recommend Hotel Tugu and stay there again whenever I can!
