We had a private pool with the river view villa, and it was beautiful. The villa was cleaned, great view, and amazing customer service. The staff are always friendly and will do whatever they can to accommodate your needs. Our water is always stocked, and when we need extra, they bring you extras. On top of that, you have your own dedicated butler that you can easily call by dialing #3 on your villa's phone. The free breakfast buffet was amazing, especially compared to the free breakfast that these American hotels offer. Personally, Kupu Kupu Barong set the standard for free breakfast at a very high level for me now. If we go back to Bali, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed in one of the River View Villas which was lovely. Amazing view and lovely plunge pool. The hotel itself was a little lacking in facilities and a little tired in areas. I was very disappointed that despite it being a L'Occitane hotel, the actual L'Occitane shop had no products available during our stay.

Our stay at kupu kupu barong was beyond amazing. We were stunned at how wonderful our room was (with its own plunge pool) and loved the very friendly staff. We only ate at the restaurant once for dinner which was pretty good, the breakfast buffet had a good variety but f Balinese and “western” food. But the best part of our stay was our butlers Sugi and Sumadi, not to mention the gentlemen I called “everywhere guy” because he was always there when we needed him (I’m so sorry I forgot your name). They were both friendly and attentive. They predicted our requests, offered great tips and went above beyond for our needs. I can’t wait to have an excuse to go back.

Got a moldy room, pillow was mildew smelling, bed left us sore. Food was not the best. Pool was sad. Advertised there was a hottub but there wasnt. Room was not clean.

The internet never worked. The room that was given to us smelt like mold. After inspecting, we found mold. The food options was not good. The staff was nice, thats the only good thing i could say about the place. Not worth staying at. It ruined out trip even though we made thw best of it.

The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome. The rooms are beautiful and spotless, but are a bit frayed around the edges due to wear and tear. The breakfasts are superb also. This hotel is built on a slope though so there are many stairs to navigate, although you can get a buggy from your room to reception if required. Dinner and cocktails were great and the tandoori restaurant does a brilliant curry. We booked a private tour around the area with the hotel and it was just brilliant also. The hotel also has a daily shuttle into the centre of Ubud. But really, the staff at the hotel made our holiday very special. Oh and I forgot to mention their complimentary afternoon tea. Perfect.

Wow what an amazing experience. We got the river view villa with a infiniti pool (rm#35) and it was above and beyond our expectations! We cancelled our plans for the day just to stay and enjoy our room! The room even came with a butler (named Tukey) who went above and beyond to make our stay a lovely experience. Whenever we return to Ubud we would definitely want to stay here again.

Start off by saying, I booked a villa for 3 nights and relied on the photos for my booking. When arriving to the hotel the staff was very nice and friendly. We were taken to our villa and our room didn't quite look like what we booked, we were tired and ended up sleeping. The next morning I contacted the staff about our room and asked why we stayed in a room that we didnt pay for, and they replied with saying that the room we booked wasnt available and we had to contact the hotel before our arrival to make sure we are staying at the room we paid for/ LOL WHATT??? The villa we stayed at was a 50 dollar difference a night then the one we paid for. I ended up asking for a refund and leaving after one night to a different hotel. Overall, this hotel wasn't for us. Ive never had an issue with booking a hotel and ending up staying at a different room then what we paid for.

my husband and I stay in the #32 villa, it's quiet and nice, the condition is good and we dont think it's old or need any renovation. pool is cold tho so we only went there once for about 10 minutes, so I dont think it's necessary to get a private pool villa because the water is cold and you cant have maximum fun in there. the breakfast is buffett and there's not much selections but the view is nice, you can hear the sound the river. my husband and I took a elevator to get to the downhill and there's a bridge connecting to the other side, we walked around and saw people riverrafting and the hotel is building more villas around the river, very exciting! they also have cows and goats so we got a chance to hold baby goats, so cute! in the last day stay, we have a 2 hours massage in the tree house, thats the best view and service is good and the price is expensive.regarding the shuttle to ubud, I suggest the hotel should extend the service hours, they now only do between 10am and 6pm which is not convinience enough since the ubud area wont be slow down until 9pm, hotel should extend the shutter hours to at least 9 or 10pm. we had to hire a taxi and cost 70K back to the hotel. regarding the dinner at hotel, if you can grab some food outside, then please do, hotel food is too expensive and they are very slow, food is just so so. we found this very close restaurant nearby called Warung Kayana, they open at late night, food is good and price is cheap. I highly recommend you to try.

Pros: The friendliest staff ever!! The best wagyu beef burger of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in (I didn’t go to Bali for burgers but wow). Great service. Butler took care of all of our needs no matter how demanding. Complimentary alcohol and mini bar in our villa were a huge plus. Amazing views of the river. Breakfast was was good. Cons: Some spots on our villa’s floor felt like they were sinking, some maintenance/upkeep is required to maintain the villas. Swimming pool bed chairs should also be cleaned when housekeeping cleaned the room. Very limited L’occitane products...expected more based on photos seen. Overall: Amazing experience. Great place for taking photos/bucket list floating breakfast and jungle infinity pool views. Meticulous staff. Real jungle retreat. Very relaxing. Highly recommended!!

It has become nearly impossible to expect a standard level of service with common sense in ultra-touristy Ubud....unless you pay $250+ a night USD. This place isn't great. Don't book it expecting standard service.

I loved the stone and relief art overgrown with green throughout the property. I did get lost my first time exploring as there are many pathways. It wasn’t very obvious where the other two restaurants were, so I ended up at La View when I did opt for hotel dining. This place clearly was created with thought and detail, respecting culture and tradition. It’s ready for a little detail renovation to modernize certain areas like the bathroom. Overall, pleased with my stay. I do wish the shuttle service to/from Ubud ran longer but taxi is always available.
