Hotel staff hospitality was more than perfect. Problem was Expedia. Expedia didn’t confirm my booking with hotel. But hotel was nicely arranged my room even though they didn’t receive any booking details from Expedia. Luckily they have room openings. I want to receive any explanation from Expedia but no contact so far.

Great staff, friendly, chatty, very helpfull especially the girl on reception! And Jim the owner, having heard I was also a native of his homeland, came and had a chat which was very nice. The room was lovely and came with my own sun terrace which was amazing. The bathroom took a little getting used to as partially open to the outside, but very clean. It was so nice to wake up, go for a walk on the promonade and come back to breakfast served on the beach each morning. I thought the driver was a bit of a salesman and kept pushing to add on places to go etc. He does have a great knowledge of the island and the area. His driving was a bit agressive for me also. Even though driving is a bit on the haphazard side on the island i had other drivers that were not aggressive and we got on just fine.

Delight in Bali
Our week at La Taverna Suites was superb. Our suite was just a few steps from the beach and close to lots of excellent restaurants. The garden is beautiful, I love frangipani! Staff were very friendly and always available for any requests. We enjoyed the views and the lounges on our private roof terrace and also in our cabana. It was of great assistance that the manager and staff are fluent in English. Our day trips around the island, in new cars with experienced knowledgeable drivers were exoertly organised by the manager. We will definitely stay at La Taverna Suites on our next trip to Bali.

Quiet. Bali style in Good location
Very nice room with lots of wood and bamboo for a feeling of really being in Bali. Good breakfast with a selection of fruits and eggs cooked to order. The location in Sanur has many restaurants within walking distance and is not as crazy as Kuta.

Stunningly beautiful building in a fabulous spot
Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Fabulous position with two entrances, one on the beach and the front close to a couple of good restaurants and a gym. My only issue was the TV was a bit difficult to work and faced away from the bed. Minor issue as I didn't end up watching any anyway. I will be returning.

There is nothing good about this hotel!
This property should be closed,now.It looks abandoned,gloomy,the ac doesn't work properly,it has no proper lights at night so it makes it unsafe to walk around after dark and there are bugs in the bed!!! I moved out after one night regardless the fact the room was paid for. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone and it should be removed from your listing. I also would like to be removed from your mailing list after booking an establishment like this in Bali.

As we know that our property is in the tropical area so if you forget to close your door then bugs or even mosquito will come to your room ( Honestly this unpredictable and this the first time that we found a bug under the bed not on the bed) We always remind our guests for let us know if they need any assistance or if they are feeling unhappy but unfortunately you say that you are fine and then you tell us the problem after you found another property. This hotel has suffered neglect but has very willing staff and is in a great location. The owner is seeking to clean things up and hopefully it will be back to former glory soon. We were upgraded to their best room and looked after well.

Pleasing stay in spite of recent problems.
We enjoyed our stay in spite of nearly turning back on arrival at the main road entrance of an apparently abandoned site. Others sadly were put off. The Italian owner who built the place in 1971, has retained only the suites around the small pool, near the beach end of the property, allowing the rest to revert to the Indonesian landlord who has not kept it up. During our stay efforts were being made to tidy up the approach from the main road and to fence off the sadly disused buildings. Unfortunately there was no explanatory notice at the main gate with its abandoned reception desk- hence the lost customers (who had stayed there in previous years). Having walked far enough ourselves, we found the reception and were able to enjoy the somewhat quirky room and shower for our five days there. Its glass walls had heavy bamboo and cloth roller blinds as well as curtains inside; though the skylights and the stairwell up to the roof terrace were not covered- Not a privacy issue, but for an afternoon snooze the room can't be darkened. Stair banister needs repair. Plenty of eateries nearby on the beach or on the main road as La Taverna only caters for breakfast. The smallish pool was spotless and lukewarm like the sea.

Hotel seems to be spiraling down
Must have been nice at one time but now is getting run down. Half of the hotel is closed and now has no bar or restaurant and only a few rooms. The staff was very friendly.

the only hotel in Bali with NO BEER..
Turns out the Hotel was being closed for good and all supply contracts had not been renewed..Hotel was still being sold a a functioning Hotel !! but was really ended up just being a place to sleep. everthing very tired, hotel staff very nice as you'd expect but lacked training.

Great beach location, old style Bali
Location fantastic, right on beach with shops, massage, restaurants all outside hotel. Hotel menu a bit limited, but reasonable price. Beachside seating and dining and pool. Rooms are older style but very clean and full of character.

Beach front hotel in Sanur Bali
Checked in very late. Staff were efficient and helpful. They must be notified for a check in after midnight. Breakfast was ok. Beach was great. Pool and entire resort is a bit dated, still nice enough for the price. Resort is to be renovated in September 2016. Overall all good.

Great hotel in Sanur
We thoroughly enjoyed La Taverna Hotel in Sanur. We have been coming to Sanur for several years and so far this is the best hotel we have enjoyed. Great pool and restaurant and beach access as well as beautiful gardens and access to the street for banking and other shopping. Service was excellent. It is a Balinese hotel and not super modern but that is why we come to Bali.

Mosquito blown run down hotel
On arrival the staff had "upgraded our rooms" - to something that you'd expect for the money you paid. The "rooms" we had actually paid for were musty, mouldy and cave-like - and unfortunately one of our group had to suffer that as there were no more "upgrades". I suspect the hotel is waiting its time out for demolition - it is out of date and run down. Our safe and phone were broken and the pillows brought to the room (they had only supplied cushions). We were eaten alive by mosquitos - a net around the bed would have helped - the open air bathroom (with dumped mouldy mattress in it) would have added to the breeding ground. Food and drinks at the beach bar over priced and breakfasts not up to standard. There are far better hotels beach front - my advice is pay a little more if necessary - its worth it!.

Place with Character
Had a great stay. La Taverna is very quaint and has character. May not suit you if you want a new slick western style hotel. Facilities are basic. Staff are wonderful. Location is fantastic right on the beach and close to markets restaurants spas and shopping. Sanur is quieter than Seminyak and good for family fun and relaxing.

As the reviews had said, this hotel is old. There was a plumbing issue in our bathroom. We had told the Wonderful staff about it, and they attempted to fix it in a timely manner, but it really was never completely resolved. However, the hotel and its amenities were super, and its location on the beach was A+! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Charming Getaway
Loved it, the hotel had a lot of charm and was very Balinese, not boring at all. The insects took a bit of getting used to but ok if we kept everything closed when the lights were on. Three course breakfast was fantastic! Great location with lots to do.

Old Bali hotel with quaint,quirky style rooms in upgraded room mode. Don't expect tiles and new fittings. Go with the flow and everything works fine. The staff are good and helpful. The room we booked was not suitable for us oldies,we asked and got transferred to a more user friendly one no problems says management.

Relaxing by the beach.
We arrived at the hotel after 12 Midnight. We were happy that the driver picked us up. We were shown to our room. By that time I was so tired and ready to sleep. The staff took us to our room and I was quite amazed at the size of the room. It was huge and they sure love their bamboo. The place was a bit run down and musty. The next morning I had to check out our room. The staff came and greet us and opened up our blinds. It was like a glass house, windows all the way round. The place is really peaceful and away from the main road. The staff was more than willing to attend to our needs. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast. You only had a few choices of either Asian style or fried/poached/boiled or scrambled egg with a small slice of bread. Be careful when ordering soft boiled and poached eggs. We were expecting a buffet breakfast with what we paid for in staying at La Taverna. When you go to get money change, check that they give you the correct money back. I went to 3 places to get money exchange and they give you back in 50000.00 rupee, ask if you can have it in 100000.00 rupee and check it twice. It is safer to go to a proper money changer. When you barter always ask for half of what it's worth and bring it down further. Go to Jack's Place by the beach near Puri Santrian and try the dish called 'MAHI MAHI'. It is very tasty and the beers, food by the beach are cheap.

great breakfasts!
Lovely location on the beach front although room condition is very hit and miss for the price you pay. This is a very rustic hotel which I love but I can see it wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea. Some rooms are in need of an overhaul, in particular the bathrooms. Room 38 which we had this trip disappointed as the tv was outside on the verandah, this made it very uncomfortable if you wanted to watch something at night time due to the mosquitos. I can appreciate the idea of having the tv on the verandah as it is nice to watch during the day if you are having a few drinks but I think you also require a tv inside for the times when it is too hot to be outside. Our bathroom was in need of a revamp too as there was just a bit too much mould for my liking. Breakfasts were fantastic and had a great variety which had improved from the last time we stayed here 2 years ago. Cocktails were reasonably priced which we enjoyed by the pool. One big distraction was tourist using the pool that didn't stay at the hotel, the time we were there a family came every day and used the facilities including their screaming kids running rampart in the pool without parental supervision. The pool is small but enough for the booked guests, I don't believe it should be used by non guests also.

Be careful of those light switches.
Form over function. Lots of effort went into making our room look good, but not enough into making it comfortable. It was large and had lots of places to put our stuff, but why was there a bathtub by the front door? The bamboo-covered walls look nice, but they required all the light switches being in the floor where we kept stepping on them inadvertently. Mostly this is fun, but be careful if you get up i the middle of the night. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is pleasant, with ok (not great) food. We stayed both at La Taverna and at Kejora Suites. The latter lacks the grounds and has smaller rooms, but I'd give it the edge on overall comfort and a feeling of being at home. Also, Kejora has a much better breakfast. Neither place is likely to disappoint. Service is very good in both places.

No fuss right on the beach
We stayed as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (10 & 7) for a few days between Christmas & New Year and enjoyed our stay. The design of the bungalows is great for kids, and they enjoyed jumping between pool & beach as they felt the mood. The beach is ideal for smaller kids. The hotel's cabana's are a nice touch. The hotel is described as "rustic" which means it lacks the 'glitz' of some of the newer resorts around it, but feels more homely. The staff were always friendly and eager to please. The restaurant is average - not so much choice and resort prices - OK for a first evening convenience, but plenty of better choices a short walk away. That said, their pizza's were excellent quality and ideal for lunch on a beach day.

In comparison with other accommodations in the area, this hotel is absolutely NOT value for money. We considered moving, but had prepaid. PROBLEMS * Unfriendly reception staff. * Room smaller than website conveyed. * Despite notifying management, only tepid shower water was available. * Breakfast is only fruit, eggs and bread. No variety. * Original 70's construction still exists. Very thin walls enable neighboring guest noises / conversations to be easily overheard.

La Taverna Hotel in Sanur, Bali
The only acceptable thing with this hotel was the location up to the beach. Other points as follows, The superior room was small, only 30 cm on each side of the bed to the wall. No where to have the luggage. An uppgrade to a "de lux room" which had sufficien place was expensive. An electrical plugg was tejpt together and became parted when trying to take it out to load a telephone. The height of the opening to the bathroom was 1,6 m, which resulted in the top of the head was cracked twice in the two nights when one tried to go there half awake. Anyone could walk away with the small safe as it was completely loose. The full breakfast inkluded coffe, bred, a small glass of jouce, two eggs and a dried piece of bacon. Unfortunately it was our last 2 nights in Bali where we had 2,5 weeks with only very good experience with other hotels.

We loved this hotel. The gardens are just beautiful. It is such a tranquil setting. The rooms have an old world charm. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples. The only negative was the lack of consistent hot water, but as the climate is hot you can usually live without it.

I loved La Taverna Hotel! Great location-close to shops and spa. The hotel restaurant is in front of the beach which is so beautiful! Breakfast menu can be boring if you stay longer. Very friendly hotel staff and definitely stay when visiting Sanur.
