“Great location great hotel great staff”

Enjoyed every minute. Staff very friendly and courtious. Given drink on arrival. Some problems with air con and shower, after notifying front desk was given a new room no questions asked. Laundry service very quick and so cheap. I would recommend to anyone travelling to Bali. If you want a great deal hire a taxi to take you around Bali all day they know the best spots in bali 12hrs for approx Aus $30. Cant wait to do it again, made some great friends with some Bali local families. Bali is so safe now I would recommend to everyone.

“Inexpensive base in the 'thick of things'”

Melasti is in the midst of all the madness that is the main tourist mecca of Bali, heaps of shops, markets, bars, restaurants & beaches at Kuta walking distance to Legian & Bombing Memorial, also cheap taxi ride to Jimberan and airport . However the balcony overlooked the motorscooter parking and the room could have been cleaner, dirty spots on floors, stains on furniture, dead lizard (dehydrated) on bathroom floor and sheets and towels were grey not white, plus there was no hairdryer or coffee/tea making provided. However, breakfast was good, staff pleasant and spa services very good. As a solo female traveller I felt safe as security and reception staff close by and on duty 24hrs. Would I go back? Probably, as money saved can be spent on 'shopping'.

“disappointing”

My wife and I asked for a non-smoking room and when we arrived at about 3 pm, we were brought to a smoking room that had still not been cleaned. They moved us to another room which was also a smoking room and also not cleaned. At least this one didn't reek of smoke so they told us to leave our bags and come back in a couple hours. If that were all it would have still been ok. The website said free wifi, which there wasn't. I called front desk to find out how to get wifi and he said to come to the desk to purchase it. I get to the desk five minutes later and he says it's closed (why he couldn't tell me that over the phone, I don't know). They were overall not very helpful except for the laundry service which was done timely. Location was pretty good and the breakfast was actually very good, surprisingly, even though the dining area had a strange smell. Wouldn't have been as disappointed if the website didn't make itself look so much better than it was, so if you find it to be a lot cheaper than other choices, do it but don;t expect much.
