“Paradise in paradise”

During my recent two week vacation in Bali I stayed at the Sri Ratih Cottages initially because of the bargin rate for the room. It turned out to be one of the best vacations in my life. Sri Ratih is located just outside of Ubad which is a lot like Santa Fe, New Mexico being a rural area with full of artists and craftsmen in wood, stone, silver, gold and painting. The hotel grounds are beautifully layed out with tropical plants and flowers. The staff is extremaly friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was excellent; eggs, bacon or sausage or ham, hashbrowns, toast, fresh fruit all done to perfection. Taxis are a must because walking into town can be a dicey thing (it is that way for the whole island) but at $2-3 for the ride each way it is a bargin and the staff will call the cab for you anytime. The garden shower is really nice, there is a garden with large tropical plants at the back of the shower area. I had read in the hotel review before I went that the chickens could be loud, I found this to be not so true, yes you can hear roosters in the morning as well as doves and other assorted birds but your in a tropical forest/rice paddy area so they are just part of the surroundings. If you want something less tropical stay in Kuta or Desbusar its more urban. Over all I was extremely satisfied with my stay at the Sri Ratih Cottages and hope to get the chance to do it again.

“Price of improving hotel”

The hotel grounds are beautiful. The food served in the restaurant was delicious. It's a long hike to the town, up hill. The sound of the electric saw was distracting from the peaceful environment. Luckily, workers were only there during the day. Overall, it was a lovely place and I would return.

the grounds were beautiful. The room was spacious and clean,bathroom was huge. Air conditioning could have been a bit more forceful. got a bit steamy in the bathroom. no air con just open airways. staff were exceptional. very friendly and helpful.would i stay there again? YES.

“Great accomodation”

This place is new and clean and the staff are as helpful and friendly as the balinese can be. It is about 10 minute walk to Ubud Palace and a nice walk. There is a warung just next door that is good and spa closeby. The restaurant overlooks rice paddies. I definetly would go back

“Very good accommodation for a good price”

Building work (new restaurant) and demolition work was a slight nuisance factor, but aware of this before I arrived. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Great location as away from noisy town centre, but within walking distance (15 mins)

Firstly, my wife was not impressed to find hotel restaurant closed Upon arrival towards midnight due to heavy rain fall and delay of flight plus immigration queue ( despite 24/7 opening hrs as per their website) But staff very accommodating to supply us with utensils and hot water for Us to make own warm food.internet wise, wish there is access in the room. Surprise that food served in the morning was not fantastic . Could be improved.otherwise , I give this hotel a rank of 7 out of 10.

“Excellent place to stay. I would stay here again if I came to Bali again.”

The staff were always pleasant and helpful; the inner courtyard is a lush oasis of flowers and mossy stone sculptures; the swimming pool is brand new; our room was clean and comfortable; the air-conditioning was perfect; the internet connection was the fastest of all the hotels we stayed at in Indonesia (some of which were listed under the “splurge” section in the guide book; we ate breakfast every day and had dinner one day - the food and service were excellent. The hotel is apparently family owned and the son of the original operators is now in charge. He apparently comes every day to the hotel and has succeeded in instilling in the staff the attitude that they are to do as much as they can for the guests and that they too will benefit from the resulting success of the hotel. He has fresh ideas and evidently access to capital and is growing the hotel into a top notch establishment. They are remodeling to add multi room suites and a restaurant to serve others than just the guests. I highly recommend it.
