Small boutique hotel

Posted Jun 9, 2015
Don't expect amazing service but what you do get is peace and quiet. With only 9 other rooms we only had to share the pool once with one other couple throughout our two night stay. Good location of you have access to a scooter. We just asked to hire one of theirs for the day and I think we got a staff members! They offer shuttle into town also. Breakfast was always cold and we didn't get what we asked for the second morning as the English wasn't great with some of the staff. Provided airport transfers which were well organised and courteous. Rooms were traditional and clean and spacious. No dramas with Mosquitos at all for us as we kept doors closed.

Wonderful, lush and quiet place.

Posted May 2, 2015
Excellent value here. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool in a lush garden. 5 minute walk to the monkey forest, keep walking for another 15 min along monkey forest Rd to Ubud centre, or use the hotel shuttle. Try to get room #9, you won't want to leave!

Gepflegte Hotelanlage

Posted Apr 5, 2015

Beautiful villa with amazing staff

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: Amazing staff -- accommodating and flexible. Clean, spacious rooms. Nice bathrooms and showers. Peaceful location.
Cons: We needed to use hair clips to keep the mosquito net closed. A return shuttle service would be nice. Poor lighting in the bathroom / mirror area.
Location: It's not terribly close to the city center, but there are still many great restaurants and cafes nearby. Next to the Monkey Sanctuary.
My fiancee and I stayed at Villa Sonia for nine days this February. It's a nondescript but lovely place just south of Ubud, separated from the city center by the Monkey Sanctuary. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The best thing about Villa Sonia, however, is the amazing staff. They are incredibly friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for you. Just one example: my fiancee was having heartburn one night at around 11:00 PM, and we asked at the front desk where we could buy some milk. They said that the shops were closed, but they could help us. They brought up a big glass of milk to our room, free of charge. They really treat their guests like royalty. The location is a little inconvenient, but a free shuttle that runs three times a day will drop you off anywhere in central Ubud. Walking from the villa to the city center takes around 35 minutes, and you have to follow a narrow path that you share with motorcycles. A taxi back to the villa will cost 50,000 rupiah (around $4 USD), which seems to be the minimum fare for any length of taxi ride in Ubud. Rooms at Villa Sonia come with free breakfast, which you can have on your balcony. Fresh fruit, eggs, noodles, sausage, coffee, tea, etc. -- generally pretty good. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Villa Sonia. I strongly recommend it.

Ubud's hidden gem.

Posted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Stop feeding the geckos laxatives. Other than that, maybe the breakfast could be better and have wax candles in the rooms to keep the flies away.
Location: There's a shortcut that leads you to Monkey Forest Road. Pretty scary at night because the monkeys will harass you if you don't pay them with peanuts.
If only we could stay here longer than the 3 nights we did! Location is a little hard to find at first, but once you've adjusted it's pretty close to town through a 10-min shortcut behind Monkey Forest. The reception was superb - friendliest people on the island who can speak English, ever-ready to help with anything, be it bike rental (recommended but provided if you fulfill all the legal requirements of riding one), taxis, places to eat, etc. The room was huge, comfy and really inviting with a nice balcony for some chilling. It's peaceful and serene, kinda makes you question why you've booked this place for only a couple of nights. Sometimes at night, you get some friendly bugs keeping you company (the only annoying ones are the mozzies) but watch out for those geckos though, someone has been feeding them laxatives because they poop like nobody's business.

Posted Dec 14, 2014
Location:

Wunderschöne kleine Bungalows

Posted Nov 22, 2014

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: Majoitustilat, miljöö ja palvelu.
Location: Lyhyt matka keskustaan Monkey forestin sivuitse paitsi pimeällä ehkä ei täysin turvallinen kävelyreitti apinoiden ja muiden elikoiden vuoksi.
Aristokraattisen upeat huoneet ja terassit kauniisti hoidetun pihan ja altaan ympärillä. Ystävällinen ja auttavainen henkilökunta ja luxuspalvelu.
