Took a chance and was pleasantly surprised

Pros: Architecture
Cons: Breakfast was nothing special
Location: If you plan to walk to inner harbor, it is a hike, but there is a light rail station close by.
I typically only stay at courtyard or hampton because I know what to expect, so I booked this hotel with some trepidation. We were pleasantly surprised. We loved the architecture of the building. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helped us orient ourselves with maps and suggestions. Only negative would be the parking; a little nervous about parking on the street, but still got to park closer to the building than if we were in a parking garage or lot at a larger hotel. I think the description of being a boutique hotel is a stretch, but overall a very good experience. I'm not sure I would have felt comfortable venturing out at night alone, but being with my husband, I had no safety concerns.

The hotel is a little unorthodox, but that added charm. Funky elevator which really depicts the nature of the hotel. The rooms were very nicely done. A bit on the small side but high ceilings. Bed was unbelievable. Great night sleep. I would stay here again. Parking is on the street but conveniently right in front. Continental breakfast was a bit weak but satisfactory. Try the French Restaurant a few blocks away on N Charles.

Mt Vernon Weekend

Short walk to the Meyerhoff and the Lyric Opera House. There was also an opportunity to try out some restaurants in the area. 15 minute walk to the Basilica of the Assumption. Room was quite warm upon arrival, but is remotely controlled at the front desk, so a phone call resolved the problem. Breakfast is the expected buffet; great coffee maker. There is even a Keurig machine in the room. Very comfortable bed. Will stay again.

Great Value

Pros: Great piece of Baltimore history
Cons: free parking could fill up fast, leaving you to park down the street.
Location: Great location in a safe area of the city.
The Brexton may not have all the bells and whistles of a five star hotel, but is a very charming place to stay. The rooms on the upper floors have a spectacular view of the city. The rooms were small, but clean and beautifully restored.
