What a Great Staff

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Staff was great!
Location: The location was great. Located on the backside of the harbor, but close enough to everything we wanted to do, especially the aquarium.
The staff was delightful from check in, to crabby hour, to check out, and everything in between. What a neat experience.

The small things that add up to disappointment

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: The location
Cons: Attention to detail. A good hotel stay has no bumps, hiccups or flaws. If you can eliminate that so people can relax, you'll have a reasonable hotel.
Location: Right on the waterfront, close to the Four Seasons so we could go to one of our favorite restaurants. National Aquarium is 1 minute away, ec
"Ascend Hotel Collection" has the sound of something new, uplifting, fresh and a step above the average. Sadly we found lots of small missed details that added up to a desire to never stay here again. The initial impression from the valet parking and reception staff was good, although the cheap plastic looking walls did not convey a sense of elegance or value. Entering the lift you're greeted by a strong smell of mold that carries through to the room, albeit not as strongly. Our (non-sound proofed) room was large, yet very oddly configured. For a room for 2 adults with a king sized bed you would hope for some form of seating, but instead there's a single chair at a desk tucked around the corner. No armchair or sofa, so to remain in the room you have to lie on the bed. From the bed you can admire the dust bunnies on the ceiling. The HVAC also blows directly onto the bed non-stop, so no sleep because of that. No extra pillows, blankets, or even toilet roll. You can go outside to 'your balcony', except it's not, it runs around the building and is more of a walkway. Be careful as the floor outside the balcony door collapses when you walk on it. You could order from the tatty creased and dirty menu in the room, or but no other hotel information provided. You can use the room safe (if you use your credit card). Finally you can get home and find that there have been multiple repeat charges to your credit card of nearly $500 when all you had was valet parking. Don't do it.

Pier 5 - Baltimore

Central location on waterfront. Close to major waterfront attractions. Nice common areas and large, clean room. No street parking but convenient parking adjacent to hotel at $22 day.

Great location, needs room update

Posted Oct 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
I spend over 150 nites on the road and I typically don't stay too many nights in a really nice hotel. This hotel had problems with the ac system not working consistently. The tub had multiple chips in it. The towels were rough. I don't know if the rest of the roms were like this. I expected much better with the class hotel this was and the location. Be aware if they put you on the third floor!

Nice hotel in a great spot

Posted Oct 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
My wife and I took a little weekend anniversary trip to the Inner Harbor. Pier 5 is in a great centralized location, right next to the National Aquarium. The hotel was very nice, and the staff was welcoming and made us feel comfortable.
