older hotel for a good pricePosted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: good hot & cold breakfast for free. reasonable room rates for downtown baltimore.
Location: close to the inner harbor.
hotel was nice, room was clean and comfortable. staff was helpful with all my questions. first night we parked in parking garage across the street. the next night (saturday) i asked about parking on the street. they are not allowed to tell you it is free on the weekends, wish i had i known that friday night when we got in, it would have saved paying the parking garage fee.

my friend came and stayed in this hotel last year 2012. She was in Baltimore for a conference. In the evening, she stepped out to get dinner down the street. While she was gone for only 45mins, her $1500 was stolen from her hand bad that she left on her room table. When she found out and alerted the front desk, she was told they had no idea of what she was talking about. They refused to do any investigation and told her they had no camera to record any movement in.the hallway. She had to do some type of appeal fund with strangers before she was able to get back to Ghana. Pls when you are staying in this hotel, pls lock up your suitcase and pls if you are a woman, pls go with your purse when ever you go. There are thieves in this hotel.

Only if you're really on a budgetPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Need to replace the carpets and lighting, renovate and update the look. Even Ikea replacements would be improve the thrift-store look of the place.
The free breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly, but the hotel hasn't been renovated in a long time. Threadbare orange carpets straight out of The Shining, bulbs burnt out, lumpy floors, and kind of a pervasive "old" smell about the place. It was fine for one night, but not more. I hope the management decides it's worth renovating because the building itself is beautiful and the lobby is very nice.

Excellent value. Would choose to stay here again.Posted Nov 25, 2013
Good hot breakfast, good comfortable rooms, immediate hot water in the showers, reasonable walking distance from the Convention Center. One of the best values in Hotels that I have ever experienced. Thanks!

Decent hotel for a decent pricePosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: This hotel is great for a short visit or if you just need somewhere to stay at nighttime while doing other activities throughout the day.
You definitely get what you pay for in this hotel. For $80/night at a downtown location, around 1 mile from the waterfront area and other attractions, I was not disappointed. The staff was mostly friendly and helped me with any questions I had. However, you definitely don't get a lot of nice services that would otherwise be available in more expensive hotels. For example, the cafe was open only from 7-10 for breakfast, and it would have been nice to have dinner or lunch available as well. The cleanliness of the bathroom was not the best, only because the shower drain and curtain had not been property cleaned. Overall, however, I'm very happy with the price I paid and what I got for it, when I could have easily spent $200/night for nearby hotels.

Disappointing accomodationsPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: the price - could have been less expensive considering...
Cons: Everything - seriously.
Location: Location is great - close to a fresh market, coffee shop, liquor store, restaurants, cheap parking too.
Images and descriptions on the hotel website are not an accurate representation of the acutal experience. Our room clearly hadn't been updated (mattresses, headboards, television, furniture, carpet, everything) in decades. The matress had holes and visible wear and tear on the sides and corners, the sheets were thin, and the pillows were worthless. The carpet had burn holes and desperately needed to be replaced. The tile in the bathroom was stained with dirt and years of wear and tear and the sink had several burn marks where someone had left a cigarrette burn through. The bathtub floor was stained with years of use, and the closet was not a closet, but a number of coat hooks on the wall, three of which were broken off the wall - one of the pieces was actually on the floor. We noticed the bathroom floor hadn't been swept and there was dried liquid on the wall next to the bed. There is no toilet seat cover and our room had only half a roll of toilet paper. We weren't given a "do not disturb" hanger for the door and there was no alarm clock / or clock of any kind in the room. The only good thing about the hotel is that the elevator works, the staff have good knowledge of the surrounding businesses and parking lots, and the breakfast is decent with multiple options. Oh, and the price...you don't necessarily get what you paid for in my opinion, but it is obviously less expenesive than surrounding hotels but obvious to me now, why.

Economical hotel in the heart of BaltimorePosted Nov 22, 2013
Pros: Clean, comfortable rooms, good hot breakfast buffet, helpful staff and good proximity to downtown.
Cons: Some parts of the building are a wee bit "tired" and the coffee needs a bit of improvement.
Location: This hotel is close to Baltimore's famous basilica, Peabody Institute and within nice walking distance to the Harbor front and Camden Yards.
Mt Vernon Hotel is a great place to stay while visiting Baltimore city especially if you are looking for value. The facilities are good, the rooms clean and comfortable. The hot breakfast buffet included in the room price is nicely done with a reasonable variety of choices. We were advised not to be out walking about the immediate area late at night so if you are planning a night on the town, take a cab home. The hotel itself is very secure and there was not a lot of noise around at night. The staff are very helpful and the hotel is in reasonable distance of the inner harbor area. Overall I recommend the place.

Adequate hotel at a good price.Posted Nov 22, 2013
Only 10-15 mins from downtown Convention Center (although wouldn't recommend a women walking to/from hotel on her own late at night). Room was clean and comfortable. Wireless didn't work on the 5th floor, but it did work in lobby. Breakfast was fine - hot and cold options - and overall very reasonable at a good price.
