“A comfortable and affordable place to stay”
Overall the hotel was affordable , clean, and inviting
“Lovely place once we had a nice room. Recommended”
We were unimpressed with the original room allocated to us. It was dark, backed onto the hotel car park next door and there was a very noisy ice machine nearby. However we were offered the choice of 4 other rooms and accepted one that was very pleasant. The receptionist who showed us the empty rooms was patient and understanding.
“Good hotel, excellent value”
The room was comfortable, the bed and pillows were excellent. The fake fireplace was a little annoying, since it didn't even give off any heat. This made our stay a little uncomfortable because the heater didn't work properly: by the time it had heated up and stopped blowing cold air on us, the timer would turn it off, and we couldn't get the room comfortably warm. In september, the nights get near freezing outside, so big sweaters were needed in the room. The bathroom was a bit small, and the towels were small and a bit rough. Breakfast was decent, though nothing hot was available. It was also annoying if a large group was at the hotel and they had set breakfast times when no one else could eat. This was only posted the night before on the door, and you might not see it. The restaurant was mostly pizza and poutine and did NOT impress. There are much better fine dining establishments in Banff. The hot tub was excellent, and very useful after a day of hiking. The free wireless high-speed internet was wonderful as well. The staff were very friendly and EXTREMELY helpful. Underground parking was free, if limited. get your car in before 9:30pm. The location was good, being a short walk to downtown, but not so close that there are always a bunch of people in front of your hotel. Overall, I enjoyed this hotel. The room could have been warmer, and the towels plusher. But I would recommend it nonetheless. (hotels NEVER have decent towels!)
“Have been there several times”
Only thing is the room should be updated a little bit
“Nice hotel; only two issues...”
This was a nice hotel; nicely decorated (our bathroom was dated) and very quiet. I'd rather stay here in the summer since it's a far walk to all the shops so it's quite cool in the winter. we had booked a room with a balcony and there was no balcony... The lady at the front desk was quite annoyed when we asked to see another room (there was only one on the first floor with a balcony available stepping out into the alley; no thanks!) and it says "smoking" but you're only allowed to smoke at the front entrance; not on any of the balconies. Not a big deal but that should be indicated as almost every other hotel allows smoking on your balcony. Generally it was a nice hotel and I may stay here again if we couldn't find anything closer.
“Weekend in Banff”
The hotel has a clean and nice lobby, as well as free parking (which is always a premium). For five bucks a day you can store your skis in the underground parking (skis are not allowed in the rooms). The hotel is within walking distance from downtown. Rooms are newly renovated, big and clean. Breakfast buffet is decent - bagels, cream cheese, muffins, milk, fruits, cereals. The only annoyance was caused by the tourists next door - two hysteric and drunk women who came back from a party at 2am and started yelling at each other.
“Very Satisfied”
The hotel was nice, especially our room location at the front of the hotel with chalet style ceilings and overhangs, although it made it a little difficult to prevent bumping your head in the bathroom near the sink. The little gas fireplace in the corner (electronically operated) was a nice touch and would have been cozy had the weather been cooler. The The price was comparable to other hotels in the area--all overpriced for comparable hotels in the U.S. The breakfast was typically continental. The staff were cordial. I would be pleased to stay there again.
“Decent”
This is not a 4-5 star hotel. It is however, a great hotel at a very decent cost. The staff was incredible. When we had an issue, the front desk person came personally to the room to make sure all was okay. The hot tub, sauna, steam room make for a great combo along with the friendliness of the staff
“Excellent help”
The reception desk people were absolutely first rate--as good as you get at a high end concierge service hotel in Manhattan.
“Liked this Hotel”
Arrived early but were checked in and alowed to park in the underground car park so we could walk into Bannf. Staff very helpful and booked us a hotel in Jasper for the next stage of our journey and even negotiated us a better rate. Bar was a bit quiet in the evenings. 10 minute stroll to the town although good eateries nearby. Excellent included breakfast. Would recommend.
