Good valuePosted Jun 25, 2014
I stayed at the Banff Y lodge for 5 days in 2 different rooms. The location is close to the main street (Banff Ave.) and 7 mins. from the Fairmont Banff Hotel. For the price, it's a great deal. The rooms were clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. Lots of hot water for showering too. I ate a few times in the cafe on the main floor where the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel staff were helpful and courteous. Note that this isn't your typical hotel. There's no AC or TV (free WI-FI available) and the rooms are spartan; if you're willing to do without, it's a very good deal. I'd stay there again.

Overpriced and Poor ConditionPosted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: The staff were cordial and the location of the hotel is ideal.
Cons: The hotel needs a major infusion of money to modernize it.
My wife and I are regular visitors to Banff, having stayed at a number of hotels there over the years. Unfortunately, this facility is in dire need of upgrading. There are some renovations happening in the main lobby area but our room was exceedingly unappealing and rundown. Considering the room rate, this was certainly a disappointment. In addition, the breakfast that we had in the cafe was not up to par in my estimation. Banff is an international tourist destination and, because of that, the hotel should either elevate it's standards or lower the price in accordance to the condition.

Get what you pay for.Posted Jun 23, 2014
Bed was comfy but the washrooms were very run down and need repairs, stains on floor in washroom, shower cabinet is not large enough. No acc electrical outlets, no tv, no coffee maker, list goes on...

dirty and smellyPosted Jun 3, 2014
I've reserved this hotel about a month ago. But when I went there to check in the staff said there is a no reservation for you! So I've waited there about 40 mins. Finally it was a staff fault that he gave my room to other people. so it was not a room that I reserved. The room I got was so dirty and smelly.... the bathroom was terrible.... looks like they are not cleaning at all.... I'm not definitely recommend this hotel..

Good valuePosted May 19, 2014
Walking distance to downtown, clean room, comfy beds, very basic but good value for the price we paid. We had our own private room which I'd recommend - hostel part in the basement looked a little dodgy. Staff were friendly. Would stay there again and would recommend

Old-Banff CharmPosted May 5, 2014
The Banff Y Mountain Lodge is wonderful - it has the historical charm of the Fairmont without the price tag. The old terrazzo floors, wide corridors of this old hospital make for solidly lovely rooms that are clean and comfortable. The option to upgrade our continental breakkie to a really tasty hot one in the cafe was awesome. This place is great.
Close to sunshine and norquayPosted Apr 7, 2014
Good for a night maybe two for a stay if your thinking about skiing sunshine or norquay. Very close to both. Hotel lacks a few common amenities such as a tv in room (there is a common games room), carpet floors. Small shower. But overall decent stay for the price you pay. And the staff was incredibly nice, and definietly made the stay that much better

AmmenitiesPosted Mar 22, 2014
Did not realize the bathroom was common. I've been to hostels for backpackers but they at least have bathrooms on their own room. Other than that it was alright.

Nice StayPosted Jan 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had a pleasant stay at the Banff Y Mountain Lodge. The main facility was in good shape. The kitchen provided for the dorms could have had better organization for the dishes.
