A wonderful hotel with a great view!!!

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing!
Location: We ate at the local restaurant Crazy Weed and it was absolutely amazing! Drinks were very pricey but the food was fantastic and we will go again!
Our check in was very quick with pertinent information given to us by staff. (Wireless password, pool code, parking codes ext). Staff was also friendly. The room was absolutely beautiful and spotless! We had requested a playpen before arrival and found it set up in the room when we arrived, whereas most places just hand it to you to carry with the rest of your luggage so that was a huge bonus. We went to the pool facility after checking in and the maintenance man was standing at the front desk. He made sure we knew the pool code and was very cheery and polite! The pool facility was very nice as well, with chairs for lounging to look at the beautiful rocky mountains and pool towels were provided at the front desk. After swimming, the showers in the room was a welcome sight. All fixtures were spotless and modern. Last but not least, the beds were probably the most comfy I have slept in in any hotel ever! We will defiantly be back to stay here! Great Job Blackstone!

I'm staying here from now on instead of in Banff

Pros: The upkeep of the hotel
Cons: N/A
Location: Walk to the town centre in Canmore
Walked in the room was wow'd by everything. We had a full kitchen in our room and a balcony. The king sized bed was comfortable. Washroom and everything was clean. Went outside and saw the pool but also discovered there's sets of BBQ's you can use if you want to cook things. Parkade had alot of space and good clearance.

nice lodge but lacking

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: friendly day staff, clean rooms
Cons: maintain room amenities in working order, ofter a couple of bottles of free water in suites.
Location: good location - far enough away from town to be quiet and relaxing but close enough that its a 15-20 minute walk to get something to eat.
We recently visited Canmore for the end of august highland games. After looking at a few places, we decided to book at blackstone lodge due to the location and availability. We had stayed at the windtower the year before which is right next door and a short walk to town and the games site. Unfortunately we left things to the last minute and due to needing a two bedroom place was only able to book for one night not two based on vacancy. As a result we didnt get to use the pool or fitness facility so can not comment on those other than the pool seemed popular from the amount of people walking through the lobby in supplied house robes. The items that i would like to have used was the water dispenser on the fridge door and the coffee machine (in the morning) ...neither worked. The coffee machine was missing the portion that holds the filter and grinds as well as the pot. I mentioned the fridge water dispenser to the night desk person and was told theres a vending machine with bottled water - at the parkade level only. Windtower has a restaurant attached to it which is nice for breakfast, it would be nice if blackstone provided continental breakfast instead of having to go out to find coffee and breakfast.

Drummer Boy, Let me apologize for some of the in-room appliances not being functional. For your future stay, I highly recommend alerting the desk to the problems as early as possible. That way we can either have a member of our maintenance or housekeeping team ten to the issue. We would love to have you back in the near future.

Very Nice just a few things to be aware of!

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: Design, Cleanliness & friendly staff.
Cons: Water pressure and shower faucet need to be addressed.
Location: Great location and easy walking distance to downtown Canmore.
Stayed the long weekend in Sept. and the 3rd floor room was very nice and clean and hotel staff were very friendly. There was virtually no water pressure for showers which we discussed with the front desk staff and their maintenance guy who told us it was normal due to the town pressure coming in. I said we had lots of pressure for the two sinks and also the other hotels in the same area were not experiencing any low pressure issues. We have stayed at 3 other Clique hotels in that area with no issues. We paid a pretty good price for this room and they never offered any alternative so just be aware of that. Also, might want to get a room opposite the highway if you want to sleep with the window open. It is a little noisy from the traffic.

Norm, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm sure the water pressure concerns were addressed as well as could be by a member of our maintenance team. Here at the BML we have 160 rooms, almost double any of the other Clique hotels in the Bow Valley. With the majority of the rooms up and about showering and preparing for the day ahead that will put stress on the water pressure. I'm glad you found the room as great as you did, we would love to have you back.

Nice, new and clean suite.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The suite was great for our family stay. Everything was clean and the underground parking was convenient.
Cons: The area seems new and under construction so more amenities within walking distance for little kids would be helpful.
Location: Aside from walking the trails and to the main center of Canmore there really isn't that much to do in the immediate area.
Our suite was well appointed, clean and a great stay. The pool and common areas were also clean and nice. The only real downside was that there is no restaurant on site or room service available.

C, I'm glad your room was all that you imagined. We do not have a restaurant on site, but Canmore has over 100 fantastic restaurants, and our front desk staff can definitely point you in the right directions to find the best of the best. We hope to see your return nice and soon.

Very nice place in Canmore.

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, excellent staff.
Cons: Not much.
Location: Walking downtown and gawking at the lther tourists, hiking, dining
This is a hotel, not a resort. You fetch your own food or go downtown. Annoying on the first night of our stay was the night-time noise from the nearby Trans-Canada Highway. By night 2, I'd acclimatized myself to it, so it was no problem. One minor glitch was the failure of our key cards to work properly on Day 2.

Wonderful stay in the 2 bedroom suite

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Front desk staff were great. Meg was polite and took care of all our requests! She even lent me an umbrella! Wireless internet Great beds and pillow
Cons: Towels. We had to request more towels and the ones that we had in the rooms were labelled as "pool"
We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite in August 2014 for a couple nights. Unlike many kitchen suites at other hotels, the room was well stocked with utensils, laundry soap, garbage bags. It was nice to know that the hotel did not skimp on the quality of beds and pillows, as it had been a long travel day for all of us! Our patio was street level and in front of the parkade access. This made it quite noisy; however, we could not hear any of it once the windows/door were closed. Outdoor pool and two hot tubs were nice; however we noticed some guests openly drinking in the hot tub. While this doesn't normally bother us, they ended up breaking glasses around the hot tub and leaving! I would recommend having a "no glass in pool area" rule and enforcing it. I was personally very impressed with the WiFi coverage in the hotel! In the hallway leading to our room I counted 4 ceiling mounted access points and one right in our kitchen! (Most places have terrible coverage and make you pay extra for it.)

Joel, I am ecstatic to hear you had such a pleasant stay. We do have a 'no glass policy' for our pool and hot tub area, that's why the red solo cups are provided. While we try our best to enforce that, sometimes people find a way to slip through the cracks. For that I apologize, and will keep a closer eye on that. I'm glad everything else was so enjoyable, and would love to see you back again soon.
