“Noisy on bottom floor...”
Except for the noise, I'd recommend this hotel. It's a little away from the Banff craziness, and the restaurant was great. Room was quite comfortable. Unfortunately, we were awakened by our upstairs neighbors at 6am. I'd highly recommend getting on the top (second) floor or looking elsewhere.
“Conflicted on Buffalo Mountain Lodge, needs some TLCare and Furniture”
Looked good on your website, but. When I enter a hotel and see only one nightstand for a queen bed, right away I'm annoyed. Where do you expect us to place meds and glass of water, on the floor? Cheaping out. I called for a chair to have in the corner but it never came. Did love the real riverrock fireplace with real wood set to fire up we used last nite there. Bed was firm, but LUMPY. Mattress should be replaced. Beddiing was 4 small down pillows, plain brown comforter with one small cheap fleece blanket we had a tug of war over every night. (This is in the VERY EXPENSIVE category in Frommer's travel guide, mind you!) The shower ceiling had mold spots on it - CLEAN IT or PAINT IT, please! I put some dark socks in the nightstand shelf, only to find them coated with dust when I pulled them out next morning - YUK! My husband was coughing from mold first day so I kept a screen window open, really helped. Sorry, but the service people were very nice and professional. This place needs serious work. Lovely views and near Banff Centre which was wonderful.
“Only OK”
Nice but over priced hotel. Rooms although comfortable were dark. Fire in the room smoked a lot and kept setting off the fire alarm. Generally the hotel conformed to the standards of the rest of Banff ie over priced for what it provides. There are mountain resort towns and hotels that that offer much better value.
“Great hotel and great restaurant in Banff.”
Great hotel and great restaurant (Sleeping Buffalo) in Banff. Particularly liked our suite during our first visit with the Murphy bed.
“Rustic, romantic comfort”
We were absolutely delighted upon seeing our premium room. The bathroom was especially beautiful, the bed was comfortable and the fireplace was perfect. The fire was ready to light and the wood box was stocked with seasoned cherry (smells like incense!) The scenery lives up to the pictures we saw online. Buffalo Mountain is one of the cleanest and most pleasant places we've stayed. Our only complaint could be that it is too far from town to walk at Christmas.
“Very pleasant stay”
A very comfortable and cosy room with a real fireplace and a great bathroom! The setting is great. Breakfast and dinner were no high-lights, though.
“Perfect Relaxing Spot!”
Came here with my Mom and we loved every minute of it. The staff was so courteous and nice, and helped us with everything we needed. Rooms were clean, pretty, rustic cool feel and overall really nice decor. Great fireplace was definitely a plus! Would recommend!!!
“Nice and quiet stay”
We spent only two nights at this hotel. My daughter loves fireplace. We want to stay more nights next time.
“Beautiful mountain lodge”
Our room was very clean and comfortable and the grounds were beautifully maintained. It was quiet and the room was exactly as I expected from the pictures on the expedia site. We had a premier room on the upper floor and it had high ceilings and a nice, stocked fireplace (didn't use it since it was very warm). The large bathroom had beautiful slate floors, a lovely full sized free standing claw foot bathtub and a separate shower. Got a lot of use from the wonderful soaking tub, it was very comfortable. The bedding was very nice and it was a very comfortable bed as well. We also loved the terrace surrounded by the pine trees. We really loved our stay here and were very happy with our choice.
“Nice lodge in great town”
From the initial friendly welcome until we reluctantly had to leave two days later, we enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was a reasonable size, and had a nice balcony on which to enjoy the setting sun in the evening. The log fire was unused on this occasion, but would have been lovely in the Winter. The lodge has a main restaurant and also a smaller. more intimate bistro, Cilantros, where we had a lovely meal - and only 20 footsteps back to our room! The location was perfect as we had a hire car - otherwise, it's a 20 minute downhill walk into town (and a long but not too strenuous uphill coming back - but there are buses if you might find that difficult!). All in all, a great lodge and thoroughly recommended. Sue & Robin, Newmarket, England
