Heat, toilets, & babysitting rules need upgrading

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: Picturesque, convenient to ski hill, friendly staff, child-friendly with lots of activities for the under-12 set.
Cons: Better heat, better plumbing and a cap on the number of children that can be in a 'babysitting suite'. Better food or lower food prices.
Location: Lovely location. Resort provides skiing, swimming and hiking. Casino about 15 mins away, a small tourist town about 45 mins away. Banff 1 hour.
This is a beautiful hotel, very child-friendly and seems a good ski destination for a family. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful, if not always experienced, and the resort is picturesque. Restaurant prices are high, and the food did not match the price range - pastries on the $24 breakfast buffet were very stale, the eggs were runny, the 'homemade' strawberry jam was near-liquid, and the 'innovative' bison mash bland. The oatmeal, cereal bar, and bacon/sausage were fine, and the fruit excellent, but $24 is a bit steep for that kind of fare. Dinner again was disappointing - the chef's soup was a bland potato and carrot offering, the chowder middle-of-the road, and the chicken tikka remarkably bland for a 'spicy' dish. The hotel has a captive culinary audience, since the alternatives are a 45 minute drive away - but gourmet prices should buy gourmet fare. We were housed in the main building, where the rooms are larger than average, and had extras like robes and a kettle as well as a coffee maker. However, our stay was marred by several things: the first night our toilet was flushing poorly and running, which made it difficult to sleep. The flushing was fixed the next day, but it still ran. We hardly noticed, though, as 18-20 kids arrived next door for a babysitting suite, and although they quieted down when asked at 11 pm, the door was slammed repeatedly as parents came and went until 1 am. That night our room was also 25-30 degrees, so we were sleepless.

Hotel is too expensive for the small room you get

Family Day - Lots of Families!

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: The relaxed atmosphere
Cons: The kids buffet in the restaurant, fewer dogs
It was Family day and did the Delta ever cater to families! kids, parents and grandparents everywhere. Way too many dogs, I don't understand why people take their dogs to a hotel. Nice special entertainment for kids. The weather was warm and it is a great place for hiking.. I would recommend it to anyone - the reataurants were good but stay away from the kids buffet - tough chicken

Overall a positive stay with the exception of dining at the fireside grill...the wait for our order was too long(with items requested forgotten) & when the food arrived it was cold & sub standard.

We'll be back.

Pros: Location. Pool. Restaurants. Kid's activities.
Cons: Buffet service. We waited almost half an hour to pay our bill as Francois was serving several tables...
Location: Nakiska is two minutes away. That is great at the end of a long day of skiing...
The hotel is great and the staff were outstanding. From Ben at the front door, Michael who checked us in, to Kirsten who suggested a great place for us to eat, the staff couldn't have been better.

Nice and very comfortable rooms. Hotel staff constantly went out of their way to be sure we had the best time we could.
