1 night stayPosted Jul 23, 2014
Staff were very helpful. They knew what attractions to see and even had a very easy map to follow to find them. The room was perfect for our 5 person party. It was very clean and had 3 TV's and 1 and a half baths so it was very comfortable for all of us. It sucked that the water slide was not open until 2pm and then closed at 9:30 pm. That is prime time to be out doing stuff in Banff. 6:00 am to Midnight like our hotel Hampton we stayed at in Edmonton would be much better.

Dirty beer can and toothpick on the bedPosted Jul 22, 2014
No power outlets near the bed, there was a used toothpick right on the bedsheet(could have gotten pricked by it, gross!) and a beer can concealed behind the night table. Fridge sucked - no freezer area.

WYSIWYG: A good family placePosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location, views, water slide, quiet, new flat screen tv with power / media center to charge your electronics and even has a DVD player.
Cons: Decor and lighting. Please ...
Location: It is Banff - one of the must see places on earth. Drive up to Morraine Lake and the Icefield parkway too, absolutely worth your time.
This was my 4th stay at Douglas Fir stretching back into the late 90's. It is away from the noise and bustle of down town Banff, set in the beautiful hillside of Tunnel Mountain looking out at Mount Rundle. The main building is like any hotel, while the out buildings are where you want to stay, especially those furthest from the main office. At the property edge you always see deer munching on clover and grass. This trip there were 5, including a nursing mother and her fawn I had to shoo out of the way to get to the car! The rooms are basic: the decor is a little tired yet at Banff you don't hang about inside. The rooms are clean, staff are attentive and for children young and old, the water slide is a must. I watched grampa's sliding with their grandkids this trip. There are communal outdoor gas BBQ's, the kitchens (if you get one) have all the basics and there is even a little grocery store and liquor store on the property. Combine this with free parking, free shuttle bus (if you wish) to down town and the incredible location and when with family, this is the best place for the money in Banff.

Great for groups and familiesPosted Jul 14, 2014
the room was great, spacious and slept 8, 3 double/queen beds and a double pull out sofa. Well stocked with all supplies, including everything necessary for kitchen use. Even a fresh stack of firewood and paper.... waterpark was a hit with our kids, and the proximity to town was nice.

Beautiful settingPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Nice peaceful place to stay.
Location: Very close to downtown. Found several restaurants with great gluten free food!
Not many people there when we arrived. Would have liked a back view of the big mountain but we were very convenient to our car and to the front door.

Great property near downtown Banff!Posted Jun 2, 2014
Wonderful family or group oriented property just a few blocks from Banff's mainstreet. Waterslides, pool and hot tub amenities are top notch. Surprisingly comfortable beds both the two queen size beds in the loft and the queen murphy bed on the main floor as well. We were expecting a pull out couch bed on the main floor but the surprise murphy bed was excellent. The full kitchen that was fully equipped came in quite handy while travelling with children. And the extra bathroom in the loft was appreciated by all. All in all a great location and a wonderful property! We will definitely be staying here in the future!

Resort in need of repair; pet friendly hotelPosted May 22, 2014
Pros: The location of the resort is excellent and it's surrounded by mountains. The mountain view room is a bit misleading. Free bus pass to get to town for
Cons: Resort needs rennovation- ants easily crawl inside the suite. We called maintanence to spray around the door step. Sofa need replaced -- too soft.
Location: Close to Banff downtown. Just minutes driving-- shopping, bar, restaurant, gondola, hotspring, park.
We stayed for 3 nights. The electronic door knots were not working all the time. We were locked twice. Maintanence has to come to open the door for us. He said the room lock will be replaced after we left. We had a full kitchen, enough utensil to use. Deers were seen at evening time. We stay with a small dog. There is enough space for him to roam around. The wall bed (pull out bed in living room) is comfortable.
