“pleasant surprise. Great hotel to stay at, but don't eat there.”
We stayed there for a night & were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, decor & homeliness of the hotel. It is a small, very well maintained hotel. The housekeeping service was very good.
However, the service at the restaurant was wanting. We had dinner there and the waitress was either new or wasn't trained properly. She couldn't explain the item on the menu. I ordered a steak, and she didn't even ask how I would like it done. (She brought it done rare-medium). I overheard the people seated behind us, who had also ordered steak, and she had brought it done rare-medium too. When the customer objected, she told him that is how it (bison steak) tastes best.
My wife ordered a cocktail and she did not bother to ask whether she wanted it with vodka or gin; and made it with vodka & brought it; and said we had not specified what we wanted (I would have thought she should have asked before making it.) I ordered a pinacolada, and she probably forgot to put the rum in it, as I couldn't taste any alcohol in it. When we finished eating, she didn't ask us if we wanted any dessert and brought the check....By this time we were quite fed up; we just paid & left.
The food itself was pretty good though; but the service could certainly have been a lot better.
