Mountain views and home-like amenities

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The pool was great! Location was great! It was great to have a private BBQ.
Cons: When advertising a room with one bedroom and sofa bed provide the size of the sofa bed. The sofa bed was not large enough for 2 children ages 10 & 13.
Location: It was a great location for day trips to the area national parks
We stayed in the Grizzly Lodge. It was great having a private BBQ so we could have meals at the lodge rather than the added expense of restaurant meals. It was nice to have laundry facilities in the room. The pool was great!

Don't stay here

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Check in is 4:00. Our room was not ready until 5:30 and a seemingly clueless staff would only repeat apologies and would not contact the cleaning staff for an update because apparently they get in trouble. The room was advertised as air conditioned, there was one portable AC unit in the living room which sounded like a motorcycle when on. It did not provide any cooling to the bedrooms. It took me the best part of 20 min to figure out the television and I have the same system at home. When I lit the BBQ it was as if I was sending a rescue smoke signal. I am fairly sure the BBQ had not been cleaned in a number of years if ever. The pool was very cold and the hot tub was luke warm at best. You have to call long distance to reach the front desk. We go to Canmore a lot and have stayed in many different places. This one for as much as you pay is by far the worst. Many other places out there that for the same price will get you everything one would expect for $350 a night.

Very comfortable, the only thing that would have made it better would have been air conditioning..

Pros: Everything
Location: Canyon hike is great and the new Expedition Place is a fabulous building to visit.
Family celebration for a 60th birthday. enjoyed the town of Canmore, hikes and shops. We barbequed meals, enjoyed the pool and the balconies. Hotel staff were very accomodating with anything we asked, extra towels, kitchen soaps etc. would definelty go back. Pool and hot tub are great! nice to have underground parking also.

Not family oriented

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Phoned ahead and asked for 2 playpens to be in room. Called again on out way there and front desk lady said that housekeeping was gone for the day and that she couldn't go to the room to check if they were there. So at 10:15pm we get to our room with a 2yr old and 10month old and find NO PLAYPENS. So we had to go to our car and get our two. After 2 phone calls you would hope that your ONLY request would be granted but apparently not a family oriented hotel.

Nice location away from the train track in Canmore

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Location and facility in general
Cons: Need a bigger sign to indicate where the front desk is.
Location: Close to the town and easy to go out for dinner and grocery if needed.
Everything is great in the room, and the staff was very helpful. However, the lobby was not obvious. It would be great if it is indicated that the front desk is at the "Wolf Lodges"

Decent place to stay, but needs some updating

Posted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Pool, location and friendly staff
Cons: The room we stayed in needs to be painted, carpets cleaned and furniture updated.
Location: Walking distant to town, great mountain views and there were lots of outdoor activities
We enjoyed our stay at the Lodges at Canmore. We were in the main lodge, so the pool, hot tub and parking were all easily accessible. Our room was a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite so we had great space for a family of 5 and one dog. Very nice to have a balcony so we could enjoy the mountain views. We were told we would have a BBQ however the room they put us in did have one but we could use the one located on the common area. The pool area was great and very clean and the kids loved it. The suite looked well used as the carpet was a little shabby, the furniture worn and the paint on the walls looked dingy. Several light bulbs were burnt out and we had to ask for replacement bulbs. The friendly staff were very quick to respond to our requests for towels and new light bulbs and they made our stay very pleasant.

Nice hotel bad service; three strikes your out!

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Stayed for weekend while in town planning our wedding. Was staying at this hotel to try it out as a suggestion for wedding guests! Hotel room was poorly cleaned (hair in sink), no toiletries (retrieved from front desk), then no towels (waited 45 min in the shower for them to be delivered before fiance went down to the front desk to pick up some)! Upon leaving, front desk staff asked how they could improve our stay - when suggesting better room prep and being more quick to act on missing items, she rolled her eyes and said "Uh thanks!". Three strikes your out - and our 150+ wedding guests will be seeking other accommodations!
